Sir, The Muslim News never fails us. This year’s Awards for Excellence event was unique, celebrating 20 years of recognising the excellence and contributions of Muslims and non-Muslims. You also commemorated over 120 journalists killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since 7 October by remembering their unique contributions in informing us of the atrocities being committed by Israel in the enclave, despite the danger to their lives and the loss of a large number of families.
You honoured them by creating an award – the Valour Award for Palestinian Journalists in Gaza – and presenting it to the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, who I understand will present it to the journalists’ national body in Palestine. What a wonderful gesture.
And of course, you had women winners from diverse ethnic backgrounds and from across the country dominating the event.
