Sir, Islamophobia is not only ingrained in the Conservative Party but also in Labour. This was highlighted during the far-right riots that began in Southport when the mosque was attacked by rioters. Our Prime Minister went to the city but did not visit the mosque, as you reported. As you argued, if a synagogue had been attacked, the PM and his cabinet would have gone there to give support. The PM also refused to call the attacks in Northern Ireland against Muslim businesses and the firebombing of a mosque as Islamophobic is concerning. Many Muslims were right when they chose not to vote for Labour candidates.
