The MSA Dragons have secured a historic third consecutive Charity Boat Race title after winning the annual competition at the London Regatta Centre on June 14.

Representing the Muslimah Sports Association (MSA), the all-female team successfully defended their crown in the Sisters Race, one of the flagship events of the Charity Boat Race, known as “The Race for Humanity”.

The event, held at the Royal Albert Dock in East London, brought together more than 1,000 participants from charities, community organisations, faith groups and volunteer networks to raise funds for charitable causes.

The MSA Dragons’ latest victory follows months of training and preparation, with team members balancing sporting commitments alongside work, family and community responsibilities.

Speaking to The Muslim News, MSA Chair Yashmin Harun said she was “incredibly proud” of the team’s achievement.

“This achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork and resilience of the women who have committed themselves to training and supporting one another throughout the year.

“The victory is about much more than crossing the finish line first. It demonstrates the power of creating inclusive opportunities for Muslim women to participate in sport, challenge perceptions and build confidence through physical activity. MSA Dragons continue to inspire women and girls across our communities by showing what can be achieved when determination, sisterhood and community spirit come together.

“We are grateful to the organisers, volunteers and supporters who make this event possible and congratulate all the teams who took part. We hope this success encourages even more women to get involved in sport and experience the many benefits it brings.”

Winning three titles in a row is a significant achievement and cements the team’s reputation as one of the most successful in the event’s history.

The success also reflects the wider work of MSA, which has spent more than a decade creating opportunities for Muslim women and girls to participate in sport and physical activity.

MSA has received numerous awards for its contribution to sport and community development, including the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the National Diversity Award, the British Rowing Social Inclusion Project of the Year Award, the Ilford BID Beacon Award 2025 and The Muslim News Award.
