Gaza: 67 Palestinians killed, 106 injured by Israeli forces last 24 hours

Gaza City, (OCHA, Wafa, Al Jazeera): As month of Ramadan begins, Israel continues slaughter of Palestinians and is preventing food, water and fuel to reach the starving Palestinians as the world looks on refusing a ceasefire to stop the killings.

67 Palestinians have been killed and 106 others injured by Israeli indiscriminate bombing in Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH). At least 31,112 Palestinians have been killed and 72,760 others have been injured, of whom 72 per cent are women and children, since 7 October, according to MoH in Gaza.

Antonio Guterres has called for a truce in the war in the Gaza Strip as Ramadan begins, but falls on deaf ears.

“Yet even though Ramadan has begun – the killing, bombing and bloodshed continue in Gaza,” the UN secretary-general told reporters.

Guterres also called for the release of captives held by Hamas and the removal of “all obstacles to ensure the delivery of lifesaving aid at the speed and massive scale required” in Gaza, where the UN has warned that a quarter of the population is on the brink of famine.

“International humanitarian law lies in tatters,” Guterres told reporters, warning that the “threatened Israeli assault on Rafah could plummet the people of Gaza into an even deeper circle of hell”.

The death toll from malnutrition and dehydration has risen to 25, including 21 children, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The Gaza Strip, especially the northern region, is grappling with severe shortages in food, water, medication, and fuel. Even the aid reaching the southern region of the enclave has been insufficient, particularly with the displacement of over 1.3 million people from northern Gaza to the south, notably to Rafah.

The Israeli occupation forces not only prevent the entry of humanitarian aid into northern Gaza but also intentionally target citizens as they await the arrival of desperately needed aid supplies. This has resulted in the tragic killing of hundreds of civilians and injuries to many more.

The World Health Organization has warned that malnutrition is particularly exacerbated in the northern region, where infrastructure destruction and shortages in water, food, and medication have prevailed since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression.

In a residential home in the western part of Rafah city, three people were reported killed in ongoing artillery shelling by Israel.

It broke out along with an Israeli air strike that targeted empty residential homes in the eastern part of the city and nearby farmland.

The worst of what happened was in the early hours of this morning in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, where residential homes with at least two displaced families were targeted, according to local reports.

We’re looking at least 16 people killed in the attack, mostly women and children and elderly, say the residents in the area.

The Israeli army is flattening entire residential neighbourhoods in Khan Younis, destroying infrastructure in the city’s eastern area.

Mohammed Barakat, Gaza’s first centurion of goals and one of its top scorers, has been killed in Khan Younis.

The Ahli Gaza forward and national team footballer was killed after Israel bombed his house this morning.

Barakat scored 114 goals in his career.

Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling today targeted several residential neighborhoods in the cities of Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis in the central and southern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

Israeli fighter jets unleashed multiple airstrikes targeting entire residential neighborhoods in the Al-Qarara area, northeast of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. The strikes resulted in dozens of casualties and massive destruction.

In the southern region of the Strip, medical sources reported that Israeli military tanks deliberately destroyed and blew up several homes in the Al-Qarara area, northeast of Khan Yunis city.

Israeli warplanes unleashed intense bombardment and artillery shelling north of Hamad Town in Khan Yunis, causing significant damage.

Meanwhile, Israeli fighter jets further carried out airstrikes targeting civilian homes in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza
Strip.

WAFA correspondents said that a number of Palestinians were killed and many others were injured in the bombing of a house in the Zaytoun neighborhood.

Others were killed and injured in a similar bombing that targeted a house east of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

An Israeli artillery bombardment targeted areas east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

In Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, a number of Palestinians were injured following a bombing of a number of homes.

The Israeli forces bombed agricultural land near the Egyptian-Palestinian border inside Al-Salam neighborhood in Rafah, while the air force launched raids west of Gaza City, specifically on a house in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, and several houses in al-Shati’ camp, west of Gaza City.

On Sunday evening, ambulance crews recovered the bodies of 10 slain civilians, including children and women, from a house owned by Ashour family near the Al-Dahdouh roundabout in Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City.

They were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital.

16 Palestinian civilians were killed today after Israeli air force bombed a house in Gaza City.

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said that 16 Palestinians, most of them children and women, were killed and dozens were wounded with various injuries, after Israeli air force  bombed a house owned by Abu Shamala family in Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
