Gaza: 43 Palestinians killed 64 injured by Israeli bombing last 24hrs

By Abdul Adil

Gaza City, (AA, Wafa, Al Jazeera): At least 43 Palestinians were killed and 64 others injured in Israeli indiscriminate bombings in Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours,” the Ministry of Health said. Total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli Defence Forces since 7 October in Gaza Strip has surged to 34,305, including 14,520 children and 10,000 women and 77,293 others injured including at least 12,000 children in Gaza strip, according to the Ministry of Health. In addition further 12,000 Palestinians are reported missing, presumed dead under the rubble.

A number of Palestinians were Thursday killed, and others sustained various injuries, in the ongoing occupation aggression against the Gaza Strip, which today enters its 202nd day.

Two civilians today were killed and others injured in an Israeli artillery shelling targeting civilians homes in the Bureij and Nuseirat camps in the central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources said that a civilian was killed and others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house belonging to the Al-Oweidat family, east of Al-Bureij camp.

In the meantime, a female civilian was also killed and several of others sustained injuries in an Israeli artillery air raids that hit homes north of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources said that four Palestinians were killed and many others injured when a drone bombed a them on Wadi Gaza Bridge.

The same sources added that civil defense crews recovered the body of a slain Palestinian from under the rubble of her house, which was subjected to missile strikes in Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

In Deir al-Balah, three Palestinians were injured as a result of a drone targeting the vicinity of the Old Mosque.

The death toll from the Israeli bombing of a house owned by Al-Jamal family in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, rose to five, including journalist Mohammad Bassam Al-Jamal, while three others were injured by a missile targeting the home of Abu Arar family in Al-Musabah area, north of Rafah.

The Israeli warplanes targeted two agricultural lands in Khirbet Al-Adas area and Shaboura camp, and a number of injured people from the attack were transferred to the hospital.

In the south, homes in Al-Fokhari area, southeast of Khan Yunis, were subjected to intense Israeli artillery shelling.

In Gaza City, Israeli artillery bombed several neighborhoods, especially Al-Zaytoun, Tal Al-Hawa, Sheikh Ajlin, and Al-Rimal Al-Janoubi, wounding 10 Palestinians, including three children, with various injuries.

The Israeli warships fired four shells towards the port area and al-Shati’ camp.

Meanwhile, Palestinians have uncovered 392 bodies of people in three mass graves at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, the civil defense agency said on Thursday.

“Civil defense teams have dug up 392 bodies from the mass graves,” the agency said during a press conference in the southern city of Rafah.

Bodies of children were found among the victims.

“We don’t know the reason for the presence of children’s bodies in mass graves at the hospital,” the agency said.

According to the agency, signs of torture were found on the bodies of the victims.

“There are indications of carrying out field executions against some of the victims, while the bodies of other victims carried signs of torture and others were buried alive,” it added.

“Several victims were buried in plastic bags and placed at a depth of three meters, which accelerated their decomposition,” it added.

The bodies were discovered after the Israeli army withdrew from Khan Younis on April 7 following a 4-month ground offensive in the city.

Testimonies from the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) show that “no Palestinian is safe” under Israel’s control, the UN special rapporteur on Palestine said on Thursday.

“The pace and intensity with which this violence has spread to the rest of the occupied territory confirms that no Palestinian is safe under Israel’s unfettered control,” Francesca Albanese said in a statement after concluding a visit to Egypt and Jordan.

Albanese stressed that patients from Gaza, arriving in Egypt with exclusive and war injuries, are now joined by chronically ill and/or malnourished patients, especially children.

“Humanitarian measures implemented so far – airdrops and maritime corridors – are a mere palliative for what is desperately needed and legally due,” she said. “These measures are grossly inadequate to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe that Israel’s assault has created.”

Meanwhile in occupied West Bank, a Palestinian teenager was killed on Thursday by Israeli army gunfire in the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank, Palestinian officials said.

“The teen Khalid Raed Saleh Arouq (16) was martyred by Israeli occupation’s live ammunition in the chest, in Ramallah,” the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army raided several houses in the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh in the West Bank.

Clashes broke out between the Israeli forces and dozens of Palestinians during which live ammunition was used by the army, they added.

An Israeli soldier fired at a Palestinian girl at the northern entrance of the city of Hebron, they further said.

At least 489 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,800 others injured by Israeli army and settlers in the occupied West Bank since 7 October.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
