On Wednesday night, an Israeli military drone fired a missile at a car in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, Palestine, killing three Palestinians, including a teenage boy.
Medical sources said the slain Palestinians were identified as Soheib Adnan Al-Ghoul, 27, Mohammad Bashar Oweis, 28, and Ashraf Morad Sa’adi, 17.
Ashraf was named after his uncle, Ashraf Mahmoud Nafe’ Sa’adi, who the soldiers killed in the year 2006.
Palestinian medics and firefighters rushed to the area of the attack, but the soldiers, who invaded Jenin, prevented them from approaching the targeted car.
Israeli media, including the Times of Israel news website, reported that Israeli forces had seized the bodies.
This marks the first time Israel has used drones against Palestinian activists since 2005
The army refused to allow Palestinian medics and firefighters to retrieve the corpses of the slain Palestinians and closed the Jenin-Nazareth Road.
The Israeli army said it targeted Palestinian fighters who were reportedly responsible for firing live rounds at illegal Israeli settlements in the area and added that the Israel Security Agency (Shabak) “targeted the cell after firing at soldiers near Al-Jalama, north of Jenin.
On Wednesday evening, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of Omar Hisham Abdullah Jabara, 27, whom Israeli settlers killed after they invaded Turmus Ayya town, northeast of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and burnt dozens of homes and cars.
The Health Ministry said Omar suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest after dozens of paramilitary colonizers invaded the town.
On Wednesday dawn, a Palestinian child who suffered serious wounds after Israeli soldiers shot her during the military offensive in Jenin Monday succumbed to her injuries.
Medical sources at the Jenin governmental hospital said the soldiers shot the child, Sadeel Ghassan Turkman, 15, from the Jenin refugee camp, with a live round to the head and remained in critical condition until she succumbed to her wounds.
On Tuesday evening, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of Nasser Saleh Mohammad Sinan, 55, whom Israeli soldiers shot in the head a month earlier in Jenin.
On Tuesday dawn, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of Amjad Aref Al-Ja’as, 48, who was shot and seriously injured by Israeli army fire Monday during the massive Israeli invasion of Jenin, during which the soldiers killed five Palestinians, and injured more than a 100, some seriously.
On Monday evening, Israeli soldiers killed a young Palestinian man and injured two after the army invaded Husan village, west of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank.
The UN said Wednesday it is in touch with Israeli authorities to remind them of their responsibilities as the occupying power in Palestinian territories.
A deadly escalation increased in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns.
”We have been speaking at various levels with our Israeli interlocutors to make them aware of what their responsibilities are as the occupying power,” UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.
”We are also of course in touch with concerned nations including the members of the Security Council, so they are aware of this and of the need, again for Israel to uphold its responsibilities,” he said,
Haq said the UN has been ”very clear” about the need to end the occupation and its support for a two-state solution.
The US expects the Israeli government to ensure full accountability for a series of attacks by settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank and legal prosecution for those responsible, the State Department said Wednesday.
“We are deeply concerned by the rising levels of violence in the West Bank in recent months. There are troubling reports of extremist settler violence against Palestinian civilians, including the death of a Palestinian child and other injuries,” said deputy spokesman Vedant Patel.
“We expect the Israeli government to ensure full accountability and legal prosecution for those responsible for these attacks, in addition to compensation for lost homes and property,” Patel added..
Israeli forces have killed nearly 180 Palestinians since the start of the year.
