Thank for you unique coverage of Muslim Paralympians

25th Nov 2016

Sir, It is unbelievable that so many Muslims won Paralympic medals at the Rio 2016 games.

According to your figures, medals won by Muslim Paralympians increased by more than 50% from Beijing 2008 games, from 106 to 161. Both men and women have excelled in most of the games, more so in athletics.

It is interesting to see Uzbekistan won the most medals (31) followed by Iran (24), Tunisia (19), Algeria (16), Egypt (12) and others. What is remarkable is that Uzbekistan in the last Paralympics only won one medal (silver)! This time round it branched out beyond its traditional sports such as judo (10 medals), swimming (12).

Keep up the good work giving us such unique news.

Yours,
Mohammad Hussein
