The Judges of the Muslim News Awards for Excellence hereby give notice to withdraw immediately an award to Zafar Iqbal, co-founder of the Southwark Muslim Women’s Association. Iqbal, who was given an Education Award in 2009, was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court in April 2004 on 25 counts of historic sex abuse against three girls in the 1970s and 80s.
