Sir, India has been in the news for hosting the G20 summit under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The media has praised Modi for hosting the event. There were talks about democracy and human rights. However, there was no mention of human rights abuses against minorities, especially Muslims.
There was also no mention of the poor people living in the streets of Delhi, which were curtained off from the eyes of the high and mighty. None of the residents were allowed to leave to go to work or shop.
And everyone said this was a successful summit.
No Member of the British Parliament raised the topic after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke on his visit to the G20. We saw images of the Prime Minister and his wife going to pray in temples, and Rishi Sunak talked in India about being a practising Hindu. Yes, Hindus can practise their religion freely in India, while mosques are attacked and desecrated.
The human rights of Muslims do not matter to our PM.
Thank you, The Muslim News, for highlighting the situation of Muslims in India (The Muslim News: Teen Imam brutally killed, Aug. 25).
Yours,
Hussain Shah
