Poets’ Corner: Ka’bah

28th Dec 2018

The most resplendent house this world has seen,
Erected by Allah’s best friend,
The noble Prophet Ibrahim (as)
in conjunction with his courageous son, Ismaeel (as).

A perfect black cube in all its grandness,
Mystifying and awe-inspiring,
Resonating with Allah’s love and power almighty,
Emitting invisible light from all sides
To be drunk by thirsty, needy guests,
The true seekers of Allah (swt).

A dwelling so forceful,
That prayers are instantly answered
By Allah’s grace and magnitude.
Epitomising hope and glory
And what the future holds.

While endless throngs circle it daily,
Angels circumambulate its parallel
High in the heavens,
In ceaseless praise of the benevolent creator.
Not a moment is it left unattended.
Unquestionably, its devotees are growing.

Whoever is blessed in this journey
Takes more than that with which they came,
Pureness of soul and warmth from His Love,
Beckoning them to return once again.

For just as food nourishes the body,
Beholding the Ka’bah cultivates the soul.
