Imam Harun’s contribution to anti-Apartheid struggle

29th Nov 2019

Sir, What a powerful obituary of Gallema Harun and Imam Harun, who both struggled against the nasty South African Apartheid regime which had the support of the West. (The Muslim News, October 25)
Imam Harun who was a political detainee for 123 days in 1969 was held in solitary confinement and tortured under Apartheid South Africa and became the first cleric of any faith to die in custody under the South African Apartheid regime.
Largest number of Muslims died in the anti-Apartheid struggle. Very little is known about their contributions in the struggle. It is so good that you are informing us of the news that the non-Muslim media neglecting. That is why The Muslim News is so important to us.
Yours
