Sir, Who permitted these people to interpret Qur’an out of contest? (‘Book Review: An alternative interpretation of Qur’anic view on oppression, liberation and gender justice’. The Muslim News, November 29.) This writer got to four non-practising so-called Muslims to build this book on.
That said I want to point at the issue of gender equality – only Islam and the Qur’an put women at the same level as men as human beings. Both are equally countable of their deeds. We are equal according to our physical build-ups. Allah assigned both men and women obligations and commands in accordance with our physiology.
We do not share the same physical abilities, and no matter how to advance the science will be this fact cannot change.
So we are equal in a unique way only the blind cannot figure it out.
Oh, by the way, I am a mother of two girls.
Yours,
Umm Raihane
