A young brother and sister from Newbury Park raised £85 for Haven House Children’s Hospice in Essex as part of this year’s Ramadan.

Six-year-old Adam and his sister Sara, aged 3, who attend St Aubyn’s School in Woodford Green, wanted to help other children ahead of the Holy month.

The siblings worked hard to raise as much as possible, receiving small donations from family members and friends over the course of a year.

On May 29, Adam and Sara and their mother, Naheed Taslim, visited Haven House and presented Community and Events Fundraiser Joanne Lazarus with £85.

In a statement to The Muslim News Lazarus said: “We are delighted that Adam and Sara chose to raise funds for the hospice and it was great to meet both of them. To see children helping children is very humbling. Ramadan is a very important time for many of our families and we really value donations made from our Muslim communities during the Holy Month.”

Naheed Taslim added: “Teaching children the importance of helping children is an important part of our faith. Adam wanted to do his part for Ramadan to help children at Haven House who could benefit from donations. He came up with the idea himself and I was delighted. I am very proud of Adam and Sara.”
