Boxing champion Amir Khan, 28, and his cousin cricketer Sajid Mahmood, 33, have been awarded honorary university degrees by the University of Bolton.
The duo were recognised for their contribution to sport and charity on July 15.
Khan has fought at three different weights was honoured at the ceremony for his contribution to sport and charity.
Former Lancashire bowler Mahmood, who was also born in Bolton, now plays for Essex and made his England Test debut in 2006.
He was honoured for his contribution to cricket. Both took their seats along graduating students at the degree congregation ceremony at the Victoria Hall, Bolton.
Vice chancellor Professor George E Holmes said: “Our honorary graduands to the University are inspirational people, joining us at the celebration of what inspires us – our students’ success. We look forward to welcoming them all to the University.”
