Terrorist attack on heart of British democracy

31st Mar 2017

As we go to print, terrorism returned to the shores of Britain to strike at the heart of British democracy. The unlawful use of violence has no place in any civilised society for whatever purpose. However crude the attack, it needs to be condemned universally by all.

As Prime Minister, Theresa May, rightly said Parliament stands for, “democracy, freedom, human rights, the rule of law” and commands “the admiration and respect of free people everywhere.” No number of terrorists will defeat these values.

The Palace of Westminster is the home to the world’s oldest parliament, is a beacon and must remain sacrosanct. The Muslim News joins in the widespread condemnation of the heinous crime, and pays tribute to the work of the police and emergency services. We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the victims and their family members of the terrorist attack.
