NEW DELHI, (AA): Two minors were gang-raped in separate incidents in the Indian capital New Delhi on Friday evening, police said.
In the first incident, a two-year-old girl was picked up by two men on a motorbike from the West Delhi area. The toddler was then raped by both of them and later left unconscious in a nearby park, according to police.
She was admitted to a hospital after her relatives and neighbors found her bleeding. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
In another incident in East Delhi, three men gang-raped a five-year-old girl. A neighbor took the child into his home and, along with two other suspects, raped her, a local policeman told Anadolu Agency.
“Locals handed over the three accused to us after they saw the girl crying with blood on her clothes,” the officer said. “All the three accused were immediately taken into custody.”
The latest figures from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) show that Delhi is the rape capital of India.
The city reported 1,813 rapes in 2014, up from 1,441 in 2013.
In December 2012, a 23-year-old female student, who boarded a private bus in Delhi, was raped and brutally assaulted by six men in the moving bus.
