Palestine: Palestinian killed by Israeli army by being shot with 11 rounds

By Awad Rajoub

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): A 17-year-old Palestinian was killed in an Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, the Health Ministry said.

Medical sources in Jenin have confirmed the identity of the slain teen as Amjad Waleed al-Fayed, 17, and added that the soldiers shot the teen with nearly eleven live rounds in the upper body, reported imemc.org.

Another young Palestinian was injured when Israeli forces pushed into the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank, the ministry said in a statement.

Jani Abu Jokha, the director of Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, said two injured Palestinians were admitted to the hospital this morning after which one of them died of his critical injuries.

His death led to more protests in Jenin refugee camp, Jenin city, and surrounding villages and towns before the soldiers fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

There was no comment from the Israeli army on the report.

According to Palestinian health authorities, at least 55 Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire in the West Bank and Gaza Strip this year.

Saturday’s death comes amid rising tensions across the Palestinian territories against the backdrop of repeated Israeli arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem.
