RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): A Palestinian man was shot dead on Wednesday in the occupied West Bank after allegedly stabbing an Israeli settler, the Israeli military said in a statement.
According to the statement, a Palestinian man armed with a knife allegedly stabbed an Israeli settler, injuring him slightly, in the Teneh Omarim settlers’ community south of the city of Hebron.
“A settler at the scene shot the attacker, resulting in his death,” the army statement added.
The name of the Palestinian who was killed is 25-year-old Saadi Mahmoud Ali Qaisiya, from the village of al-Dhahiriya west of Masafer Yatta .
Israeli Ynet News said the incident took place in “Mor Farm” outpost, near Taneh Omarim settlement.
It added that the Palestinian entered the farm before the settler heard noises outside his property, and reportedly “saw a man carrying two knives, then the settler ran towards his home to grab his weapon, while the Palestinian chased him, and stabbed him in front of his family.”
It added that the wounded settler then managed to shoot and kill the young Palestinian man.
Since October of 2015, more than 265 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli-Palestinian violence, according to official Palestinian figures.
Israeli authorities say at least 47 Israelis have been killed by Palestinians over the same period.
