Agencies: Israeli warplanes fired several missiles towards Hama, in north-west Syria, early on Friday, killing a family of four — including two children — and wounding four other people, according to Syrian News Agency, SANA.
According to SANA, the four civilians were a father, mother and their two children. They also said a woman, two children and another elderly woman were wounded and three civilian houses were destroyed.
Israeli missiles were fired from Tripoli in Lebanon. Lebanese people tweeted presence of Israeli warplanes in their airspace during the attack.Israel usually uses Lebanese airspace to bomb Syria. Lebanon has complained to the UN many times in the past but the UN has not done anything to stop Israel using its airspace. Israel does not bomb Syria without US giving it green light. The bombing took place under new President Joe Biden.
“At about four o’clock in the morning today, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression with a barrage of missiles coming from the direction of the Lebanese city of Tripoli, aiming at some targets in the vicinity of Hama governorate,” SANA reported, citing a military source.
“Our air defenses confronted the enemy’s missiles and downed most of them.”
Israel has carried out hundreds of attacks against Syria in the past.
The last one was reported last week, when airstrikes targeted sites in the Deir al-Zor region of eastern Syria and in Albukamal near the Syria-Iraq border, leading around 50 casualties.
