China: 3 dead, 18 hurt after man drives into crowd

BEIJING (AA) – A man drove a car into a crowd in China’s eastern Jiangxi province Tuesday, killing at least three people and wounding 18 others – the majority of them students.

State news agency Xinhua cited a publicity official for Fengxin County as saying that those hurt in the at 7.15 a.m. (2315GMT) accident were immediately transported to nearby hospitals.

Police have placed the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
