ANKARA (AA): Sweden’s southern city of Malmo was rocked Sunday by a grenade attack, the fourth in a row this week, media reports said.
Sweden’s SVT television reported that a handmade grenade exploded in the early hours of Sunday in a street in Malmo, where many students reside. Nobody was injured in the explosion, but numerous cars in the street were damaged.
Police are investigating the explosion as well as with three other blasts that hit the city in the previous days.
Stephan Soderholm from the Malmo Police Department told reporters the attacks were believed to have been caused in relation to a rivalry between gangs, whose members are said to be of former-Yugoslavian origin.
He said police were also investigating the possibility that the gangs were trying to intimidate those referred to court on gang war accusations into not testifying.
Malmo was rocked previously by three other attacks on Friday, Thursday and Tuesday. One person was injured in Tuesday’s attack while the others caused just material damage.
