Mo Farah’s 10,000m victory Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava in the Czech Republic means he is now undefeated at this distance for almost six years. Farah won in a time of 27:12, a good 2 minutes 34 seconds clear of Kenya’s Mathew Kimeli. Farah’s time was only four seconds off the world-leading time over 10,000m this year, held by Abadi Hadis of Ethiopia.

Dalilah Muhammad won a historic 400m hurdles race at the US Championships in Sacramento on June 25. Clocking 52.64 to move to sixth on the world all-time list, the Olympic champion was one of three athletes to run times of sub-53 seconds as six dipped under 54 seconds. It is the first time that three athletes have ever gone quicker than 53 seconds and six have broken 54 seconds in the same women’s 400m hurdles race. Shamier Little was second in 52.75 and Kori Carter third in 52.95 to book their spots on the US team for the World Championships alongside Muhammad and Cassandra Tate, who won the overall 2016 Diamond League title and therefore has a wild card.

Football
Liverpool’s latest signing, Mohamed Salah, says he joined the Anfield club to win silverware. The Reds completed the deal for the Egyptian from Roma last month for a club record fee of £36.9m. That figure could rise to £43.9m with add-ons according to the Italian club. Salah impressed with 29 goals in 65 Serie A appearances whilst in Rome.
Mesut Ozil says he wants to stay at Arsenal amid summer exit rumours and will reopen contract talks after the pre-season tour of Australia. Ozil is one of a number of Arsenal players inside the final year of his deal and has so far been unable to agree on terms with the club on an extension. But while Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez has said little about his intentions, Ozil has made it clear his priority is to remain at the club.
