T20 World Cup: India dominate Pakistan in Colombo

Feb 15: Pakistan were comprehensively beaten by India in their Group A T20 World Cup clash in Colombo, going down by 61 runs. Ishan Kishan’s rapid 77 off 40 balls powered India to 175-7, while Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar shared the wickets as Pakistan were all out for 114 in 18 overs. Usman Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 44 from 34 balls, but the side struggled against India’s early onslaught and spin attack. Pakistan, who had initially threatened to boycott the fixture amid political tensions, now face a must-win match against Namibia to secure a place in the Super 8s. Despite the heavy defeat, Pakistan remain in contention for the knockout stages, with a potential semi-final or final rematch against India still on the cards.

Moeen Ali reverses domestic retirement to join Yorkshire

Jan 28: Yorkshire County Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of Moeen Ali on a Blast-only contract for the 2026 season, with an option to extend into 2027. The all-rounder, who had previously retired from domestic cricket, will link up with the squad in May. In 420 T20 matches, he has scored 7,792 runs and taken 271 wickets, including a career-best 121 in the Vitality Blast.

“I’m delighted to be joining Yorkshire for the Blast. There’s a lot of talent in the squad, and I’m excited to help push the group forward. I’ve always loved playing at Headingley — the wicket, the atmosphere and the supporters make it a special place. This feels like a fresh challenge and I’m arriving hungry for it.”
