Indulgence
Led by appetite,
Chasing carnal delight,
Revelling, bingeing, doping,
Anything to keep the cheap thrills going
…Too busy having fun, maybe later…
Love
Fallen and fallen hard
Enamoured by endearment and charm
Dreaming, pining, flying on nine
Giddy with desire, blood on fire
…Too impassioned to think, maybe later…
Ambition
Driven by insatiable hunger,
For money, luxury, power
Descending at destructive speed
In a senseless spiral of greed
…Too obsessed to bother, maybe later…
Retirement
Feet up, need to relax, rest
Done with work, struggle, doing my best
Had my kids, made my money, tasted success
Time to finally enjoy, unwind, retire in Dorset
…By the beach, snoozing… maybe later
Death
Soul in my throat, sick with regret…
All the good I could have done!
All that I could have become!
No strength, no breath
…No time, too late.
