I’ve always been a hopeless romantic
You know, the kind that pines
For all-consuming love and fire,
Drawing moth to flame,
Dry tinder to blaze,
Incinerating them alike
In union’s transformative light
I’ve always yearned
For deep love that burns
Through vicissitudes of time,
Turbulent strife, black nights,
It’s enduring glow, warmth, depth
Filling me with the spirit and strength
To face inner frailties, tempests,
With courage, dignity, resilience
All my life,
I’ve longed for love sublime,
Beyond sensual, selfish, lies,
A love that conquers
Dark shadows, insecurities, desires,
All separation between ‘you’ and ‘I’!
Yet, it’s only in maturity,
That I finally realise,
A love so pure, true,
Absolute,
Only resides
In love
