London, (The Muslim News):
Eid Al Adha Messages from Political Leaders:
First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, MSP
“On behalf of the Scottish Government and the people of Scotland I would like to extend my warmest wishes to Muslims in Scotland who are celebrating Eid al-Adha.
“This day marks the end of the Hajj and new beginnings for the pilgrims in Makkah and is also a time of reflection for friends and families.
“The contributions made by Muslim communities in Scotland and their commitment to helping others and promoting tolerance and understanding helps us create the supportive communities I am proud of.
“May the year ahead bring joy and happiness to you all.”
First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, AM:
“As Muslims across Wales and the world join together with friends and family to celebrate Eid al-Adha, I wish them Eid Mubarak.
“The festival, which celebrates personal sacrifice and encourages people to give to charity and help those who are less fortunate, is an honourable and important event. It is also a wonderful opportunity to get together with family and friends to reflect on our lives and give thanks.
“Thank you to Muslim communities across Wales for the huge contributions they make to our society. I wish you all a happy and blessed Eid al-Adha.”
