Gaza: 93 Palestinians killed, 142 injured by Israeli bombings last 24 hours

Gaza City, (Wafa, OCHA): According to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Gaza, 93 Palestinians were killed and 142 injured by indiscriminate Israeli bombings in Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. This brings total of Palestinians killed since 7 October 2023 to at least 31,819, including 13,000 children, 73,934 Palestinians were injured in Gaza Strip, according to MoH in Gaza. 8,500 Palestinians are missing.

There are more than 17,000 Palestinian children who have been orphaned or separated from their parents during the war in Gaza, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund, or UNICEF.

WAFA correspondent said that the Israeli air force targeted a house near Al-Matahin Junction, north of the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli warplanes also targeted another house owned by Alyan family near the Haidar Abdel Shafi roundabout, west of Gaza City, and a house near Al-Mashal Foundation, west of the city, killing and injuring a number of people.

He added that the war planes launched raids on the neighborhoods of Al-Rimal, Al-Zaytoun, Al-Daraj and Sheikh Radwan in Gaza City, while the Israeli artillery bombed the east of Bureij camp and the north of Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

WAFA correspondent indicated that 14 civilians were killed following airstrikes that targeted homes and apartments in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli air force also targeted an aid warehouse in Jabalia camp, north of Gaza, killing two of its workers.

He also pointed out that six Palestinians were killed after the air force targeted the home of Al-Amoudi family in Abu Al-Amin area in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.

The Israeli artillery also bombed homes in Tal Al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods, west of the city.

Additionally, the Israeli army continues for the second day in a row to besiege Al-Shifa Hospital in Al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City, amid hearing the sound of huge explosions resulting from missile and artillery shelling.

WAFA correspondent explained that the occupation forces continue to prevent ambulances from reaching Al-Rimal neighborhood to retrieve the slain civilians and the injured.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said that patients and medical staff at the besieged al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City continue their fast in Ramadan without breakfast on a second day.

It said that people in the hospital lacked water and food due to the Israeli army’s siege.

“The Ministry of Health calls on all international institutions to stop the crimes against patients, wounded and medical staff in the hospital,” a statement said.

Israeli forces have been carrying out operations in and around the hospital.

UN rights chief Volker Turk said through his spokesperson Jeremy Laurence, “Israel, as the occupying power, has the obligation to ensure the provision of food and medical care to the population commensurate with their needs and to facilitate the work of humanitarian organisations to deliver that assistance.”

His comments came a day after a report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification said malnutrition and food insecurity have probably exceeded famine levels in Gaza’s north, and hunger-linked death rates were likely to do so soon.

Turk said the crisis was “human-made” and “entirely preventable”.

“Everyone, especially those with influence, must insist that Israel acts to facilitate the unimpeded entry and distribution of needed humanitarian assistance and commercial goods to end starvation and avert all risk of famine,” he added.

“There needs to be full restoration of essential services, including the supply of food, water, electricity and fuel.”

In a devastating series of Israeli airstrikes last night, numerous civilians, including children and women, were killed in various areas in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, according to local and medical sources.

The sources reported the killing of at least 14 civilians and the injury of many others after Israeli airstrikes targeted residential homes in the areas of Musabeh, Khirbat al-Adas, and al-Janena neighborhood in the city of Rafah.

Simultaneously, Israeli warplanes bombed a house west of the Nusseirat refugee camp, the central Gaza Strip, belonging to the Hajj family, resulting in the killing of several civilians and injuries to others.

Witnesses stated that local Palestinians and rescue teams recovered the bodies of the victims and the wounded, transporting them to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah.

Additionally, Israeli artillery continued to shell areas east of the Jabalia refugee camp in the north of the besieged territory.

Several civilians, including children, were killed and others were injured last night in an Israeli shelling that targeted a house in the town of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli warplanes shelled a house belonging to the al-Banna family in the town of Jabalia, killing at least eight civilians and injuring several others. The house was destroyed completely.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
