The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticised the United States after reports it agreed to send another $2.5bn in weapons to Israel despite growing concerns that Israeli forces will expand military operations to Rafah.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said about 9,000 patients urgently need to be evacuated abroad from Gaza for life-saving health services, including treatment for cancer, injuries from bombardments, kidneys dialysis and other chronic conditions.

“With only 10 hospitals minimally functional across the whole of Gaza, thousands of patients continue to be deprived of health care,” he said in a post on X.

“So far, over 3,400 patients have been referred abroad through Rafah, including 2,198 wounded and 1,215 ill,” he also said.

He concluded: “But many more need to be evacuated. We urge Israel to speed up approvals for evacuations, so that critical patients can be treated. Every moment matters.”

Dozens of Palestinian civilians were killed today as Israeli warplanes launched a series of intense airstrikes in Gaza City, according to Wafa News Agency.

Additionally, the Israeli military targeted the headquarters of the municipalities of Bureij and Zawaida in the central governorates of the Gaza Strip, putting them out of service.

The Israeli warplanes also launched airstrikes targeting the vicinity of the Wadi Gaza Bridge north of the central governorate in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, the Israeli aircraft and artillery targeted homes and gatherings of displaced people in the Shujaiya Club, the Karni crossing area, the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, and Al-Maghazi camp, resulting in the killing of 40 civilians and the injury of dozens.

Israeli fighter jets launched a series of fire belts targeting the Khuza’a area, east of Khan Yunis, and the Abasan and Sufa areas, northeast of the city of Rafah.

Eight civilians were killed this evening in Israeli strikes that shelled civilian houses east of Gaza City.

Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike targeting the Aliwa family home, east of the Shejaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza, killing three people and injuring several others.

Five civilians were also killed and others were injured in Israeli airstrikes that targeted civilian homes west of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Israeli artillery also shelled civilian homes in different areas of the Zeitoun neighborhood, in Gaza City.

Meanwhile in West Bank, a 13-yaer-old Palestinian child was shot and killed and two others were injured, one of them critically, during an Israeli military incursion at dawn into the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin.

Fawaz Hammad, the director of Al-Razi Hospital in Jenin, said that Nabil Abu Abed, 13, has been killed after being seriously injured by occupation live` bullets.

Local sources confirmed that large forces from the occupation army raided the said town, deployed their military vehicles in the streets and neighborhoods, while snipers were deployed on the rooftops of several buildings and shops.

According to Health Authority, 455 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli Defence Forces and illegal settlers since 7 October 2023 and Israel has detained 7,870 Palestinians.

The Israeli military has denied a report it struck the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) which has injured several UN officials and a translator in the southern border town of Rmeish.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the Israeli military will expand its campaign against Hezbollah: “We will reach wherever the organisation operates, in Beirut, Damascus and in more distant places.”
