London, (The Muslim News): Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina urged to attend a night prayer for Palestinians last night after Israel intensified attacks on Gaza.
“Spread the word and invite others for night prayer,” said Sadrudin Iseric, imam of Emperor’s Mosque in Sarajevo, on a Facebook post.
Hundreds shared the post, while many others commented to say they would attend or pray from home for Palestinians.
There’s been intense Israeli bombardment of Gaza by air, heavier than in previous evenings, while all internet and phone communications appear to be out in the territory. As of Friday, the Israeli shelling of Gaza had claimed the lives of at least 7,326 Palestinians, the overwhelming majority of whom (70%) were women and children.
Israel has confirmed its forces are expanding their ground operations.
The internet monitoring service Netblocks posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, to say there had been a “collapse in connectivity”.
The Palestinian Red Crescent says it cannot speak to its teams in Gaza.
“We are deeply concerned about the ability of our teams to continue providing their emergency medical services, especially since this disruption affects the central emergency number ‘101’,” they wrote in a post on X.
The latest Gaza’s conflict began on October 7 when Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood — a multi-pronged surprise attack that included rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea and air, the attack claimed 1,400 Israeli lives.
Hamas said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
The Israeli military then launched a relentless bombardment of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
Residents of Gaza have run out of food, water, medicine, and fuel. A fraction of the aid convoys recently allowed into Gaza has arrived.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen on Saturday termed “despicable” a UN General Assembly resolution demanding a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip.
The UN General Assembly approved a resolution Friday that called for an immediate “durable and sustained humanitarian truce” in Gaza.
“We reject outright the UN General Assembly despicable call for a cease-fire,” Cohen wrote on X.
US voted against the resolution, UK abstained. France voted for the resolution.
“Israel intends to eliminate Hamas just as the world dealt with the Nazis and ISIS,” he added.
The Israeli army increased its air and military assaults on the Gaza Strip on Friday. Since Hamas launched a cross-border raid on Israeli territory on October 7, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to constant bombing.
