JERUSALEM (AA): Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man, who allegedly stabbed two soldiers in Jerusalem’s Old City on Monday, according to Israeli police.
Two border police officers were moderately injured in the attack, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a statement.
He said four people have since been arrested in East Jerusalem’s Jebel Mukabber neighborhood, where the alleged attacker lived.
Palestinian news agency Ma’an identified the Palestinian as 25-year-old Ibrahim Mattar and reported that some of those arrested were his family members after their house was raided.
Later, the soldiers invaded Jabal al-Mokabber neighborhood, southeast of Jerusalem, to break into the home of the slain Palestinian, in Eshqeirat area, and clashed with dozens of youngsters, who hurled stones on them, while the army fired gas bombs and concussion grenades..
Following the fatal shooting, the soldiers invaded the family homes of the slain Palestinian, and abducted his parents, and his uncle.
Since October of 2015, more than 265 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces – either during alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli forces, according to official Palestinian figures.
Israeli authorities say at least 47 Israelis have been killed by Palestinians over the same period.
