BETHLEHEM, Palestine (AA): Israeli gunfire killed one Palestinian and left two others injured in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to a local Palestinian NGO.
Sajid Abdel Hakim Helmi Mizhir, 17, “a voluntary Palestinian medic in the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC), was martyred by Israeli forces,” the PRC said in a statement.
“Muzher was transferred to the hospital after an Israeli sniper bullet struck his chest,” it added.
“He was later announced dead,” the statement said.
Israeli forces who opened fire at him despite wearing his clearly marked medic vest.
Clashes broke out when Israeli forces raided the Dheisheh refugee camp in the Bethlehem province.
Israeli forces used live ammunition, rubber bullets and teargas canisters to disperse the local Palestinian youths.
The two other Palestinian — who were moderately injured — were referred to a hospital for treatment.
During the invasion, the soldiers stormed and ransacked several homes, and abducted Mohammad Riziq Hammash, 21, Mahmoud Walid Lahham, and Ma’ali Issa Ma’ali, 27.
There was no comment from the Israeli military on the report.
The Israeli army frequently raids cities and villages across the occupied West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
Meanwhile, eight Palestinians were shot and injured as Israeli forces suppressed a peaceful march in solidarity with Palestinians prisoners, in front of Birzeit University, in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah, on Wednesday.
According to local Ma’an sources, Israeli forces attacked Palestinian protesters who took part in a peaceful march in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners, following the recent violence at Israeli prisons.
Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets, sounds bombs, and sound grenades towards protesters.
