Palestine: Israel built over 12,000 illegal settlement units in 2020

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA): Israel has approved the construction of 12,159 illegal settlement units in the occupied West Bank this year, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said Saturday.

On Thursday, the Israeli government approved a plan to build 3,212 new units in the Jewish-only settlements in the West Bank.

“The [Israeli] move came after the signing of normalization agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain under US auspices,” the PLO said in a statement.

“This is a defiance to international law and UN resolutions and disregard to the international community,” it added.

UK, France, Germany, Italy & Spain on Israel’s decision to advance more than 4,900 settlement units in the Occupied Palestinian Territories only showed “concern” about the illegal settlements and have not threatened to take any action if the settlements goes ahead.

“We are deeply concerned by the decision taken by the Israeli authorities to advance more than 4,900 settlement building units in the occupied West Bank. The expansion of settlements violates international law and further imperils the viability of a two-state solution to bring about a just and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Last month, the UAE and Bahrain agreed to establish full diplomatic, cultural, and commercial relations with Israel after signing controversial US-sponsored agreements on Sept. 15 at the White House.

Abu Dhabi and Manama alleged that their deals with Israel halted the Israeli annexation plan, which takes almost 30% of the occupied West Bank. However, on several occasions Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed the plan is only postponed.

Moreover, Israeli authorities on Thursday issued three military orders to confiscate 11,000 dunums (around 2,700 acres) from the occupied Jordan Valley in the West Bank.

The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is regarded as occupied territory under international law, thus making all Jewish settlements there illegal.

Settlements in the disputed Judea and Samaria are legal by the international law, by Oslo agreements , by 242.
1: Israeli settlements are arguably not ‘occupied’ under the terms of the Fourth Geneva Convention “” International law, in the form of treaties like the Fourth Geneva Convention and 1907 Hague regulation, has generally used ‘Occupied territory’ to mean: the sovereign territory of one state that is controlled by another. That is not a reasonable description of the areas in question. The Arabs refused to create a 22 Arab state after the end of the mandate. And there has never been a Palestinian state there The Arabs choice was to attack and destroy the defending Israel. While Jordan controlled the area from 1948 to 1967, it is not sovereign Jordanian territory, because Amman’s ownership was never recognized by the international community and Jordan renounced any claim in 1988. The Arabs named by mistake Palestinians start claiming for an independent state only in 1968- after the 1967 war..

2: We didn’t say there should be a withdrawal to the ‘67 line; we did not put the ‘the’ in, we did not say ‘all’ the territories deliberately.” “It would be “insanity” for Israel to ever give up the entirety of what is commonly known as the “West Bank Declared by Lord Caradon, Britain’s delegate to the UN in the 1960s and one of the authors of 242 “” drafters wanted to indicate that the boundaries should be negotiated – meaning an Israeli claim to keep some territory was recognized The 242 resolution, written in the wake of the 1967 Six Day War, recognized that: — Israel was the one that had been attacked — called on the Jewish state to: give up some of the territories,- not all of the territories it had taken in the war for the sake of peace.

3: Settlements are part of Oslo agreement between Arabs named by KGB Palestinians in 1968 and the defending Israel. **”Major issues such as Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS, and security and borders were to be decided at these permanent status negotiations (Article V).”* Settlements were not a barriers until– Obama declared that they are barrier. One additional among the many ME colossal mistake by Obama.

4: Wilson Churchill official statement: “The Arabs are the outsiders, the conquerors.” “When the Mohammedan upset occurred in world history and the great hordes of Islam swept over these places, including the land named by the Romans Palestine they smashed it all up. You have seen the terraces on the hills which used to be cultivated by the Jews, which under Arab rule have remained a desert” ”The Jews have developed the country, grown orchards and grain fields out of the desert, built schools and great buildings, constructed irrigation projects and water power houses and have made Palestine a much better place in which to live. Conclusion: The defending Israel want peace- by international law and agreement Samaria and Judea- is a disputed land and settlement are permitted- the Arabs refused any peace proposal from 1948 up today.
