Israel forces killed 36, injured 204 in Lebanon & killed 44, wounded 80 in Gaza

(AA, Wafa, Al Jazeera): The Lebanese Health Ministry said in a statement that at least 1,838 people have been killed in Lebanon since mid-September, when Israel escalated its attacks on the country.

At least 2,448 have been killed since the beginning of Israel’s exchanges of fire with Hezbollah last October. This includes 140 children and 270 women, and 11,471 wounded, the ministry added.

In the past 48 hours, Israeli attacks have caused the following casualties in Lebanon:

South: 11 killed and 95 wounded
Nabatieh: 23 killed and 93 wounded
Bekaa: One killed and 9 wounded
Baalbek-Hermel: One killed and 12 wounded
In total, 36 people were killed and 204 wounded over the past two days.

Meanwhile in Gaza, 33 Palestinians on Friday night were killed and 85 others injured in Gaza.

LEBANON

At least six people were killed and 11 others injured on Saturday as Israeli airstrikes targeted various locations across Lebanon.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), one person was killed and two others injured in an attack on a residential apartment in the town of Shatoura, Bekaa Valley region of eastern Lebanon.

In a series of statements, the Health Ministry said two deaths occurred when an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in Jounieh, Kesrouan district of central Lebanon.

Three others were killed and another injured in a separate airstrike on the town of Zefta, southern Lebanon, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, five people sustained injuries, including one critically, when an Israeli strike hit a building in Jal el Bahar, near the coastal city of Tyre, close to the Mashriq Medical Center.

Emergency responders from the Red Cross and civil defense teams rushed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

The NNA news agency said Israeli aerial assaults, including both warplanes and drones, persisted around Tyre and surrounding villages from late Friday night into Saturday morning.

Another three people were injured in Israeli airstrikes on the town of Khraibeh in the south.

Israeli airstrikes also targeted a building along the Zefta highway in the Nabatiyeh province, leading to its destruction, as well as attacks on several southern towns, including Abba, Khiam, and Kfar Kila.

While cross-border warfare between Israeli forces and Hezbollah continued since the Gaza war last October, Israel escalated its offensive in Lebanon late last month, killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and many other commanders.

At least one person was killed and 10 others injured on Saturday as Israeli airstrikes targeted various locations in eastern and southern Lebanon.

A drone launched from Lebanon on Saturday struck the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in northern Israel, his office said.

The prime minister’s office in a statement said the drone launched from Lebanon targeted Netanyahu’s private home in Caesarea, northern Israel.

It added that the premier and his family were not at home at the time of the attack.

One Israeli was killed and 11 others were injured on Saturday in separate incidents when rockets launched from Lebanon struck settlements in northern Israel.

According to the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, the Magen David Adom emergency services confirmed the death of a man who sustained critical injuries when debris hit his vehicle near the Na’aman junction, close to Acre.

Another passenger in the car suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

Israeli Army Radio reported that at least 10 other people were injured in northern Israel, particularly in the Haifa Bay area and the Upper and Western Galilee, following a barrage of rocket fire from Lebanon.

The Israeli army confirmed that 60 rockets were launched during the latest attack from Lebanon, bringing the total number of rockets fired toward northern Israel on Saturday to 115, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

In a statement, Hezbollah confirmed its involvement, claiming responsibility for the extensive rocket fire targeting the Kiryat area north of Haifa as a show of support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and in defense of Lebanon and its residents.

Iran is in favor of peace but it is also prepared for any scenario, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday.

“The spread of the war in the region is a serious threat; we are in favor of peace, but we are also prepared for any scenario,” he told a press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.

GAZA

At least 44 Palestinians are killed and more than 80 wounded in Israeli strikes on northern Gaza’s Jabalia and Maghazi refugee camps.

In Gaza, at least 42,519 people have been killed and 99,637 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023.

At least 33 Palestinians on Friday night were killed and 85 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on homes in the northern Gaza Strip, according to local authorities.

Mohammad Salha, director of Al-Awda Hospital, told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli airstrikes targeted a number of Palestinian homes in Tel al-Zaatar area, east of Jabalia refugee camp.

He noted that still there are missing people under the rubble of the homes, while ambulances are unable to reach the area under fear of being targeted by the Israeli army.

The Gaza local authorities said among the victims there are 21 women, and that the death toll is expected to rise amid poor health services in the northern Gaza under Israeli siege and attacks.

For the 14th consecutive day, the Israeli army has continued its offensive in northern Gaza, focusing on Jabalia area and its refugee camp.

Northern Gaza, particularly Jabalia area, is under a suffocating siege and constant bombardment, with homes being demolished over their inhabitants.

Gaza health officials have said Israeli forces surrounded and shelled the Indonesian Hospital in the territory’s northern town of Beit Lahiya.

“Israeli tanks have completely surrounded the hospital, cut off electricity and shelled the hospital, targeting the second and third floors with artillery,” said the facility’s director, Marwan Sultan.

“There are serious risks to medical staff and patients.”

In a statement, Gaza’s Health Ministry also said Israel had hit the upper floors, adding there were “more than 40 patients and wounded in addition to the medical staff” present.

“Heavy gunfire” towards the hospital and its courtyard had led to a “state of great panic” among patients and staff, it added.

A child was killed and several others were injured this evening due to artillery shelling by Israeli occupation forces west of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Local sources reported that Israel’s artillery fired multiple shells, resulting in the murder of the child and injuries to several Palestinians.

In a separate incident, Israeli forces demolished several homes in the Al-Faluja area, west of the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza, while Israeli warplanes conducted numerous airstrikes, the latest targeting the Old Gaza Road in the nearby town of Jabalia.

Israeli warplanes also struck agricultural land near the Al-Halawa area in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.

According to local sources and witnesses, emergency and civil defense teams are facing severe operational challenges due to ongoing Israeli attacks and restrictions.

Also in Jabalia, the Israeli army has surrounded refugee shelters with a large number of military vehicles, subjecting women and children to security checks and intimidation before allowing them to leave the shelters, while detaining several men and boys.

In the meantime, Israeli artillery also struck an ambulance transporting injured individuals from the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Additionally, Israeli occupation forces invaded Palestine School and positioned themselves outside the Hafsa School gate in Jabalia refugee camp, while encircling wounded individuals inside the Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the camp.

Earlier today, Israeli tanks advanced into northern Gaza, reaching the gates of the Indonesian Hospital in Sheikh Zayed neighborhood, where they besieged the facility and demolished part of its walls.

Israeli artillery also targeted the upper floors of Al-Awda Hospital three times, injuring several medical personnel.

Two Israeli soldiers were killed in ground battles in the northern Gaza Strip, the army announced Saturday.

According to a statement from the Israeli military, the soldiers, who served in the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, were killed in clashes with Palestinian fighters.

This brings the death toll of Israeli military since Oct. 7, 2023 to 747.

In a separate incident, the Palestinian civil defense confirmed that two more Palestinians were killed and seven others injured in another strike on a home belonging to the Saeedi family in Jabalia.

Separately, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said Israeli artillery targeted the upper floors of the Indonesian Hospital, which housed over 40 patients and injured individuals, as well as medical staff.

The situation worsened as the hospital lost electricity, further endangering the lives of patients, especially those dependent on oxygen machines.

Two patients in the intensive care unit were killed due to the Israeli army’s siege of the hospital and cutting off its electricity for hours, a medical source at the hospital told Anadolu.

Marwan Sultan, the director of the facility, described the dire conditions, saying at least 30 patients were injured, with 10 in urgent need of oxygen support, warning that their lives are at risk if the power outage continues.

Separately, a group of displaced civilians gathered outside the hospital gates were hit by artillery fire, causing casualties, according to witnesses.

Witnesses said the hospital is surrounded by Israeli forces, who have besieged shelters housing thousands of displaced civilians around the hospital area.

Meanwhile, the al-Awda Hospital in the Tel al-Zaatar area of Jabalia was also hit by Israeli artillery just hours after the attack on the Indonesian Hospital.

In a related development, the Palestinian Telecommunications Company said internet services were interrupted in northern Gaza.

A medical source at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Balah confirmed the fatalities, saying many more who were injured in the attack were rushed to the hospital following the aerial assault.

Separately, Israeli forces advanced into the eastern part of the Bureij camp in central Gaza amid heavy gunfire and intense artillery shelling aimed at civilian homes, witnesses said.

In the southern city of Rafah, Israeli warships also fired shells at the city’s coastline, while ground troops continued to shoot at areas west of Rafah.

WEST BANK

Illegal Israeli settlers on Saturday burned Palestinian homes and property near the northern city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, resulting in two injured.

The illegal settlers burned three houses, a poultry farm, and agricultural land in the village of Jalud, south of Nablus, reported official Palestine news agency Wafa, citing the local village council head.

Noting that the settlers “attacked the eastern part of the village,” Raed Haj Mohammed said: “The settlers held several residents for a period, while some families who were harvesting olives in that area could not reach their homes due to the fires.”

At least 1,139 people were killed in Hamas’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive.
