London, (The Muslim News): Gaza’s children are bearing the brunt of Israel’s relentless assault, with an average of 540 killed each month since March 2025, UNICEF reported on Tuesday. At least 18,885 children are among more than 62,000 Palestinians killed since October 2023, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office. UN agencies warn there are no safe spaces left: UNRWA said its schools and shelters, once sanctuaries, have become “places of death,” emphasising that “no place is safe for children in Gaza.”
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the overall Palestinian death toll since October 2023 has reached 62,064. In the last 24 hours, 60 more people were killed and 343 injured, bringing the total number of wounded to 156,573. Starvation and malnutrition have also claimed lives: three new deaths were recorded, raising the famine-related toll to 266, including 112 children.
The violence by Israel continued into Tuesday, with at least 51 Palestinians killed since dawn, including eight shot while waiting for food aid near US- and Israeli-backed Global Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution points — aid queues that have caused nearly 2,000 deaths since late May.
Attacks on displaced families were reported across the Gaza Strip. In Khan Younis, Israeli forces struck multiple tents, killing two, including a young girl, near University College, and four in al-Mawasi, Wafa news agency reported. Additional shelling left two dead and ten wounded near the Applied Sciences College, while Israeli gunfire killed another man.
In Deir al-Balah, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported five deaths in al-Bassa and another five near the Kissufim site southeast of the city. Gaza City saw two fatalities and 53 wounded in Zikim, and two more killed near the Netzarim Corridor while waiting for aid. In Rafah, six people died in al-Mawasi, and another man was killed near a food distribution centre.
Overnight, Israeli forces conducted a limited ground incursion into al-Sabra, killing five people. Northern Gaza also came under fire, with two killed in Jabalia al-Nazla and four in al-Zeitoun when Israeli strikes hit two homes.
Rescue efforts remain severely hampered. Victims are trapped under rubble or on streets that emergency teams cannot reach due to relentless bombardment and severe shortages of fuel, machinery, and medical equipment, the Health Ministry said.
On Monday, Palestinian journalist Islam Al-Koumi was killed when Israeli fighter jets bombed his home in Gaza City’s Sabra district, raising the total number of journalists killed since October 2023 to 239, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.
