Gaza: More than 100 children being killed daily in 100 days by Israeli bombing say Save the Children

London (The Muslim News): More than 10,000 children have been killed by Israeli indiscriminate bombings and ground operations in Gaza in nearly 100 days of war, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, with thousands more missing, presumed buried under rubble, Save the Children said.

Jason Lee, Save the Children’s Country Director for the occupied Palestinian territory, said: “For every day without a definitive ceasefire, 100 children on average have been killed. There can never be any justification for killing children. The situation in Gaza is monstrous and a blight on our common humanity.

The latest data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza shows more than 10,000 of Gaza’s 1.1 million children – or 1% of the total child population – have been killed since an attack on Israel on 7 October and the assault on Gaza that has followed. The war will have been ongoing for 100 days on Sunday 14 January.

Children in Gaza surviving the violence are enduring unspeakable horrors, including life-changing injuries, burns, disease, inadequate medical care, and losing their parents and other loved ones. They have been forced to flee violence, often repeatedly, with no safe place to go, and face the terror of an uncertain future. About 1,000 children in Gaza have lost one or both of their legs, many having them amputated without anesthetic, and will require a lifetime of medical care, reports Save the Children.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip’s southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis killed and injured at least 12 Palestinians overnight.

In the early hours of this morning, a number of civilians were reported killed and others sustained injuries as the Israeli Defence Forces continue its devastating war of genocide against the Gaza Strip for the 98th consecutive day, reports Wafa news agency.

In central Gaza, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in the Al-Mashaala neighborhood in Deir Al-Balah. Simultaneously, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Al-Zawaida and the neighboring Nusseirat and Al-Bureij refugee camps, resulting in casualties.

In Khan Yunis, south of the Strip, over 30 bodies arrived at hospitals in the city due to the ongoing Israeli airstrikes in various parts of the province.

Further, Israeli air force conducted intense raids in the central area of Khan Yunis, targeting ambulance and rescue crews as they worked to transport the wounded and retrieve the martyrs.

Earlier last night, nine civilians were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residence in the Shawka area, east of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its teams transported nine bodies during the Israeli targeting of the Abu Senema family home in the neighborhood.

The airstrikes targeted the Abu Namous family’s home in Khan Younis, according to information acquired by Anadolu on Thursday from local sources.
Seven people were killed, including women and children, while 25 were injured.

Separately, five people were killed and many others injured in strikes on a home in a northern area of Rafah and a shelter for displaced people.
Shelling also reportedly caused numerous injuries in northeastern Rafah.

Israel has bombed Gaza since October 7, killing at least 23,465 Palestinians, including 10,000 children, 7,000 women, wounded 59,604 and 7,000 Palestinians missingmore, according to health officials.

According to the UN, around 85% of Gazans have been displaced, with all of them experiencing food insecurity. Hundreds of thousands of people remain without shelter, and fewer than half of the assistance trucks arrived before the war began.

Three more Palestinian journalists were murdered in fresh Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, increasing the total to 115 since October 7, according to the government media office.

A statement by the media office identified the slain journalists as Ahmed Badir, Sherif Okasha, and Heba Al-Abadla, without giving any further details.

According to an earlier announcement, Badir was killedin an Israeli bombardment on a residence near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip

According to Israeli authorities, 1,139 Israelis were killed on October 7 by Hamas. Israel says Hamas still holds 136 Israelis captive in Gaza.
