Gaza: As Palestinians were going to food aid convoy, 112 were killed, 760 wounded by Israeli attack

Gaza City, (Al Jazeera, OCHA, Wafa): In the last 24 hours 130 Palestinians were killed, 892 were injured by Israeli indiscriminate attacks in Gaza Strip.. The figures include 112 killed, 760 wounded today morning on Rashid Road south of Gaza City when Palestinians were going towards food aid convoy, according to Ministry of Gaza.

At least 30,035 Palestinians have been killed, including 13,230 children and 70,457 have been injured, including 8,663 children by Israeli indiscriminate bombing in Gaza since 7 October according to MoH. Around 8,500 Palestinians are missing. The death toll also includes 8,860 women, 340 medical staff, 132 journalists, and 47 civil defence staff.

However, according to US Pentagon 25,000 women and children have been killed by Israel.

Reporting from the scene on Rashid Road, Al Jazeera’s Ismail al-Ghoul said that after opening fire, Israeli tanks advanced and ran over many of the dead and injured bodies. “It is a massacre, on top of the starvation threatening citizens in Gaza,” he said.

The dead and wounded had been taken to four medical centres: al-Shifa, Kamal Adwan, Ahli and the Jordanian hospitals. Ambulances could not reach the area as the roads had been “totally destroyed”, said al-Ghoul.

An Israeli government spokesperson has described the Palestinian casualties during aid distribution near Gaza City as a “tragedy” and claimed initial indications were that deaths were caused by delivery drivers ploughing into a crowd.

“At some point the trucks were overwhelmed and the people driving the trucks, which were Gazan civilian drivers, ploughed into the crowds of people, ultimately killing, my understanding is, tens of people,” spokesperson Avi Hyman told reporters.

“It’s obviously a tragedy but we’re not sure of the specifics quite yet.”

“Life draining out of Gaza at terrifying speed,” says UN aid chief Martin Griffiths on aid seeker attack, as death toll in Gaza crosses 30,000-mark.

Gaza Health Ministry says six children died in north Gaza from dehydration and malnutrition at Kamal Adwan and al-Shifa hospitals, while others are in critical condition.

At least 25 civilians, the majority of whom were children and women, were killed today in a series of Israeli aerial and artillery strikes at al-Nuseirat and Bureij camps in the central Gaza Strip.

Ambulance and civil crews retrieved the bodies of the 25 persons from under the rubble of several inhabited homes that were bombed in the ongoing airstrikes.

Simultaneously, scores of civilians are still missing under the rubble as a result of the Israeli bombardment of multiple residential squares in the central Gaza Strip.

The Israeli artillery also continue to intensively bombed Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the European Hospital received the bodies of five people killed by Israeli shelling. Ambulances were unable to reach the targeted locations due to the ongoing Israeli artillery shelling as well as drone-fired shots at anything in motion in the Al-Satar area and near the vicinity of the Nasser Medical Complex.

Meanwhile, in West Bank, a Palestinian child is killed in Beit Furik village in Nablus, by Israeli forces bringing the death toll in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to 406 Palestinians, including 103 children, since 7 October.

According to Israeli government 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on 7 October in southern Israel and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
