The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk,  said in a statement from Geneva that he has repeatedly expressed his alarm about the catastrophic impact of a possible full-scale offensive on Rafah.

He said he was “deeply distressed” by the fast-deteriorating conditions in the besieged Palestinian territory as Israeli forces intensified airstrikes on Jabaliya and Beit Lahiya in the north and parts of central Gaza.

“At the same time, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are fleeing Rafah after the Israeli Defense Forces ordered further evacuations from the southern city, leading afresh to massive displacement of an already profoundly traumatized population,” said the UN human rights chief.

Turk also expressed concern at reports of indiscriminate rocket fire from Gaza.

He said that since May 6, when the IDF issued an evacuation order to Palestinians in eastern Rafah, more than 278,000 people have been displaced.

“This includes people with disabilities, the chronically ill, older people, the injured, pregnant women, and many others who are physically unable to move without help.”

Israeli military tanks have started to go deeper into the Jabalia refugee camp as part of a new offensive in northern Gaza, according to our correspondent.

The offensive – which has forced thousands of Palestinians to flee – comes months after Israel declared Hamas had been “dismantled” in the area.

Thousands of Palestinians have been forced to flee from across Gaza, including Jabalia, Beit Lahiya and Rafah, as Israeli forces reinvade already heavily hit areas.

Israeli forces have killed dozens of civilians over the last few hours across the besieged enclave; at least 45 bodies have arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir el-Balah, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reports.

Medical sources Sunday said that three Palestinian civilians, including a woman, were killed after an Israeli bombing of citizens’ homes in the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza, reports Anadolu Agency.

Local sources said that Israeli artillery targeted the vicinity of Al-Zaytoun Clinic in southern Gaza.

The artillery also targeted civilians’ homes north of Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli jets on Sunday pounded the Jabalia refugee camp causing mass displacement of Palestinians from the north to the west of Gaza City as well as the Ahmad ibn Hanbal Mosque on Al-Sekka Street east of the camp.

Local sources told Anadolu that more than 100 Israeli airstrikes hit roads and residential areas in the camp and its surroundings.

Intense overnight clashes took place between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces east of the camp, the sources added.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, said that its fighters were engaged in “fierce clashes” with Israeli army forces in the eastern part of the camp.

Large groups of Palestinians were seen moving from Jabalia to the western part of Gaza City, eyewitnesses said.

Israeli airstrikes also caused casualties in the central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah told Anadolu that several Palestinians, including two doctors, were killed, and several others were injured in a series of Israeli attacks on Saturday nigh

Meanwhile, at least 18 Palestinians were killed and six others injured within a span of 24 hours in Israeli attacks targeting the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, Wafa news agency reported on Sunday.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the Kuwaiti Hospital in the city home to 1.4 million people taking refuge from the war in Gaza.

Israeli forces this week issued evacuation orders for Palestinians in eastern Rafah, ahead of its ground invasion that is said to be underway.

Israeli warplanes bombed the house of journalist Anas al-Sharif, a correspondent for Al Jazeera in Jabalia refugee camp, reflecting the deliberate targeting of journalists and their families’ homes since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.

Israeli warplanes and artillery continued to unleash successive and intense carpet bombings in several areas north of the Gaza Strip, in addition to eastern and western areas of Gaza City.

Meantime, local sources confirmed the deliberate destruction of dozens of homes by the Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza over the last few hours.

At least 19 civilians, including children and women, were killed and several others injured Saturday evening in a series of Israeli airstrikes on residential buildings in the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, as well as the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City.

Local sources reported that rescue and civil defense teams retrieved the bodies of nine Palestinians and several wounded individuals, including a young girl, following the Israeli bombing of the Al-Louh family’s home in the Deir al-Balah refugee camp by Israeli warplanes.

The sources further stated that the airstrike resulted in the destruction of the house and caused severe damage to the neighboring homes and properties.

Simultaneously, Israeli warplanes bombed a house belonging to the Ashram family in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, resulting in the murder of at least 10 civilians.

Several Palestinians, including children and women, were killed and injured in airstrikes carried out Saturday by Israeli warplanes in residential areas in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Anadolu.

The Israeli army launched airstrikes on various residential areas in the Jabalia refugee camp and its surroundings, resulting in deaths and injuries to Palestinians, including children and women, said a correspondent.

The correspondent noted that aircraft targeted the vicinity of shelters in the center of Jabalia in northern Gaza, amid a state of terror that gripped thousands of displaced residents.

Witnesses clarified that medical and civil defense teams are facing difficulties in reaching victims due to the relentless Israeli shelling.

Despite civilians being killed in the airstrikes, the army claimed in a statement to have targeted “Hamas targets in Jabalia,” without providing details.

The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced Saturday that teams recovered nine bodies and several wounded victims, including a child, as a result of an Israeli bombing attack on a house in the middle of the enclave.

“Civil defense teams were able to recover 9 martyrs and rescue a child and a number of injuries after the occupation aircraft targeted the house of the Al-Louh family in Deir al-Balah refugee camp,” it said in a statement.

Witnesses told Anadolu that the Israeli shelling led to the destruction of the house and caused extensive damage to homes and property.

The Israeli army on Saturday expanded its simultaneous ground and air attacks across all governorates of Gaza, following its demand to evacuate residents from wide areas in the northern and central areas.

It also advanced into the southern part of Gaza City and the eastern areas of Khan Younis in addition to conducting a series of intense airstrikes that resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries in various areas of the territory.

At least 14 Palestinians were killed on Saturday when Israeli warplanes bombed a house and two civilian gatherings in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that “four members of the Shaeer family, killed by Israeli airstrikes targeting a gathering of civilians in the eastern areas of Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, were brought to Al Kuwaiti Hospital.”

They added that Al Kuwaiti Hospital received 10 Palestinians seven of whom fell victim to the targeting of the Hashash family’s house in the Arab area northwest of Rafah, and three others in a gathering of citizens in the Al Salam neighborhood east of the city.

Their bodies are in “shreds,” they said.

The witnesses added that Israeli warplanes completely bombed the Hashash house and that medical and civil defense teams are still searching for victims under the rubble.

Several Palestinians were killed and injured on Saturday in a series of Israeli airstrikes and shelling on homes in Gaza City and the northern governorate of the besieged Strip amid escalating military attacks.

At least nine Palestinians were killed and several others, mostly women and children, were injured in Israeli military shelling that targeted a house belonging to the Qubt family in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip, medical sources told Anadolu.

Several Palestinians were killed and injured in Israeli airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip that targeted the homes of the Okasha, Al-Masri, and Abu Aita families, according to eyewitnesses.

The witnesses said civil defense teams are still searching for survivors under the rubble of the targeted homes in northern Gaza.

Meanwhile, more than 520 bodies were found in seven mass graves at hospitals in Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Saturday.

“We found 80 bodies in three mass graves in the courtyards of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and dozens more inside the hospital departments,” the ministry said in a statement.

“A virtual examination of the bodies exhumed from mass graves showed that the largest number of bodies belonged to patients who were deprived of health care,” it added.

According to the Israeli government, 1,139 Israelis were killed by Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel, and 134 Israelis and foreign nationals are still detained by Hamas in Gaza.
