Gaza: 54 killed, 50 injured by Israeli forces last 24hours

(The  Muslim News):   50 more Palestinians were killed, 54 others injured by Israeli indiscriminate bombings in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 38,345 and 88,295 injured by Israeli armed forces since last Oct. 7, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Thursday.

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Meanwhile, civil defence workers recovered at least 60 bodies in northern Gaza City’s Shujayea . The death toll in Israel from the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 is estimated at 1,139, and dozens of people are still held captive in Gaza on Thursday after two-week Israeli assault has rendered the neighbourhood unlivable with 85 percent of homes completely destroyed.

Civilians fleeing Gaza City say people were shot dead during forced evacuations after the entire population – 300,000 people – was ordered to leave by Israel’s military.

The Israeli army continued to strike areas across the Gaza Strip involving ground, aerial, and naval attacks as its deadly onslaught enters day 279, several days into its ninth month, local media reported on Thursday.

In the southern Gaza Strip, the Israeli army destroyed entire buildings in the city of Rafah, while army artillery struck the Shaboura neighborhood in central Rafah.

Health authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties from these attacks.

Several Palestinians are feared dead after an Israeli strike in the central Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to witnesses.

The attack targeted a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp, which flattened the building, while a number of nearby houses were damaged, witnesses said.

The Health Ministry has yet to issue an exact death toll from the attack.

According to Wafa News Agency in the central Gaza Strip, an Israeli raid targeted a house in Al-Zaafran area of ​​Al-Maghazi camp, while a missile drone was launched towards a house in Nuseirat camp, as gunboats fired their fire towards the beaches of Madinat Al-Zahra and Nuseirat camp, all while the occupation artillery fired its shells targeting Al-Mughraqa area in the camp.

In the city of Khan Yunis, an Israeli raid targeted the east of the city, at a time when Doctors Without Borders warned of the cessation of health care in Nasser Medical Complex in the city, as a result of an acute shortage of medical supplies and fuel, which is considered the last advanced hospital still operating in southern Gaza.

The said hospital receives double numbers of patients every day, placing a burden on all departments beyond their capacity.

In the city of Rafah, the Israeli forces blew up residential buildings in the center of the city, while the Israeli artillery fired shells towards the vicinity of Shaboura neighborhood in central Rafah.

In Gaza City, Quadcopter drones fired on homes in Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of the city.

In the same context, water desalination plants supplying the areas of northern Gaza and Gaza City stopped working due to running out of fuel.

Meanwhile in West Bank, Israeli forces shot and killed Ali Hassan Ali Rabaia, 17, during a raid on the town of Meithalun, southeast of Jenin, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reports.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its teams transported the body to the Turkish Hospital in Tubas. Two other Palestinians were wounded in confrontations with Israeli soldiers, Wafa said.

This brings the total number of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023, to 573. Among them are 138 children.

The death toll in Israel from the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 is estimated at 1,139, and dozens of people are still held captive in Gaza.
