( The Muslim News): At least 45 more Palestinians were killed and 77 others injured by Israeli Defence Forces’ indiscriminate attacks last 24 hours in the Gaza Strip, pushing up the overall death toll of Palestinians to 39,445 and injured 91,073 since last Oct. 7, the Health Ministry in the territory said on Wednesday.
A number of Palestinian civilians were killed and injured on Wednesday in a series of raids by Israeli warplanes and artillery on different areas of the Gaza Strip, as the brutal Israeli aggression the Gaza Strip enters its 299th day.
Health sources said that a number of people were killed and injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a house in al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah city.
WAFA correspondent said that many people were injured and taken to the Red Cross field hospital as a result of gunfire from Israeli army vehicles towards the tents of the displaced in al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
Health sources also confirmed that a one person was killed and four others were injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Neighborhoods of al-Zeitoun, al-Shuja’iyya, and al-Tuffah, east of Gaza City, were subjected to intense artillery shelling, which led to the injury of many civilians, including children and women.
The areas east of Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, also saw intense artillery shelling and successive explosions amid gunfire from Israeli army vehicles.
Two reporters for Qatari television Al Jazeera were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on Wednesday.
The Doha-based broadcaster said journalist Ismail al-Ghoul and his cameraman Rami al-Rifi lost their lives in the attack that targeted a car near the Aidia area west of Gaza City.
Gaza’s Government Media Office said the new fatalities brought the number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip to 165 since Oct. 7, 2023.
In a statement, the media office called on the international community and press organizations “to deter the (Israeli) occupation and prosecute it in international courts for its ongoing crimes, and to pressure it to stop the crime of genocide and halt the killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists.”
Eyewitnesses said an Israeli fighter jet hit the vehicle on Salaheddin Street near the entrance of the town.
Eight civilians were killed today in an Israeli shelling of the town of Az-Zawayda in the central Gaza Strip.
WAFA correspondent said that an occupation drone targeted a group of civilians near the electricity company in the Az-Zawayda area, resulting in the killing of eight people.
Casualty data in Gaza are incomplete due to the ongoing intensive Israeli aggression, the repeated and complete interruption of communication and internet services, lack of fuel and devastated infrastructure, which render it difficult to document figures.
An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 were taken captive.
