(The Muslim News) : 32 more Palestinians were killed, 88 others injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces in the last 24 hours in the Gaza Strip, pushing up the overall death toll of Palestinians to 39,929 and 92,240 injured since last Oct. 7, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Tuesday.

At least 10 Palestinians killed and several others wounded in an overnight Israeli strike on a home in eastern Khan Younis.

A three-month-old infant was the only member of her family to survive an Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip late Monday. A few kilometres to the north, a man lost his wife and their twin newborns – just four days old – in another strike, The Associated Press reports.

Newborn twins killed in Israeli strike in Gaza as father collects their birth certificates. “Aysel and Asser were the beginning and the end of my joy. My happiness was incomplete, and now it’s gone,” their father Mohammad Abu al-Qumsan told Anadolu Agency as tears rolled down his cheeks.

“They were born on August 10. I was outside the house, finalizing the paperwork, and then I got the call… I didn’t expect to find them all gone.”

Mohammad and his wife, Jumana Arafa, who had been displaced from northern Gaza, welcomed their twins into the world after a challenging cesarean delivery. Their hearts brimmed with joy, and the couple looked forward to the future with their two little ones.

As he rushed out early Tuesday to collect the birth certificates for his children, he received a devastating phone call informing him that Israeli shelling had targeted the apartment where his family was staying.

With his heart racing and dread overwhelming him, Mohammad hurried to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, where he found his worst fears confirmed.

Collapsing in grief at the sight of his family gathered outside the morgue, the father realized that his wife and their newborn twins were among the victims.

“Aysel and Asser were the beginning and the end of my joy. My happiness was incomplete, and now it’s gone,” the bereaved father said.

Across the room, Jumana’s brother mourned his mother, Rim Jamal al-Batraoui, 50, who was also killed in the attack.

As he held his mother’s body and gazed at his sister and her children, he tearfully asked, “What was their crime? Why did the Israeli army target them?”

More than 10 months into its war in Gaza, Israel’s relentless bombardment of the besieged territory has wiped out extended Palestinian families.

It has left parents without children and children without parents, brothers or sisters. And some of the sole survivors are so young they will have no memory of those they lost.

Israel’s offensive has left thousands of orphans – so many that local doctors employ an acronym when registering them: WCNSF, or “wounded child, no surviving family”.

The United Nations estimated in February that some 17,000 children in Gaza are now unaccompanied, and the number is likely to have grown since.

At least 15 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli forces attacks across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning.

A medical source told Anadolu that the bodies of eight Palestinians arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, the central Gaza Strip, after Israeli warplanes targeted ordinary people in the city as well as the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps.

Israeli fighter jets attacked the Bureij refugee camp again, this time targeting three homes and killing four more Palestinians, according to eyewitnesses.

Rescue teams recovered three bodies from the rubble of a destroyed home bombed by Israeli jets in Rafah, the Gaza Strip’s southernmost city.

Israeli warplanes and artillery struck several areas in southern and western Gaza City.

Meanwhile, more than half of schools-turned-shelters in Gaza have been “directly hit” in the last 10 months of Israel’s assault on the besieged enclave, the UN says.

Since July 4, at least 21 hits were recorded, killing more than 270 people, it added.

The update comes days after Israeli forces struck the al-Tabin school in Gaza City, killing more than 100 Palestinians sheltering there.
