(The Muslim News): 24 more Palestinians were killed and 110 others injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces in the last 24 hours in the Gaza Strip, taking the overall death toll of Palestinians by Israeli attacks to 39,677 since last Oct. 7, and 91,645 others injured, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Wednesday.
At least seven Palestinians were killed in Israeli artillery shelling of a tent camp sheltering displaced people in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, the Civil Defense Agency said.
The attack targeted tents of displaced people in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, the agency added in a statement.
According to Gaza’s government media office, around two million people have been displaced by Israel’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Three people are dead and more than 10 wounded in overnight Israeli attacks that destroyed two homes and tents sheltering displaced people in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah.
Meanwhile, Khan Younis’s Nasser Hospital has received the body of a slain Palestinian who was killed in an attack on the nearby town of al-Qarara, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
Three others, all of whom are siblings, were killed in a separate attack that struck their home east of Khan Younis. They have been identified as Ahmed, Osama, and Lily Abu Khater.
Gaza’s civil defence says its teams have recovered the bodies of three slain Palestinians who were killed in an attack on Yaffa Street in Gaza City’s Tuffah neighbourhood.
Israeli forces have stepped up attacks in Khan Younis, killing at least 11 Palestinians in the past few hours.
WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli bombing targeted an apartment belonging to the family of Ahmed Hamada, next to Yaffa School in Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza, where he was killed along with his wife and their son.
The Israeli forces also opened fire on civilians’ homes east of the Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip, which resulted in the injury of a number of Palestinians, who were subsequently transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli boats bombed the area around Wadi Gaza Bridge northwest of Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Israeli warplanes bombed a house on Salah al-Din Street at the entrance to Nuseirat camp, while the Israeli artillery fired its shells towards the neighborhoods of Tal al-Hawa and al-Zeitoun in Gaza City.
The Israeli warplanes raided the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and the eastern part of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli artillery bombed the area around Sheikh Zayed Towers east of the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, and the area west of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed in a report yesterday that the bombing and hostilities continue to kill, injure and displace Palestinians, and destroy infrastructure.
The UN office stated that during the past 48 hours, three schools housing displaced persons in Gaza were bombed, resulting in dozens of casualties.
The number of people killed since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7th, 2023, has surged to 39,653. Some 91,535 others have been wounded.
Thousands of victims are still trapped under the rubble or scattered on the roads, as ambulance and civil defense teams are facing tremendous difficulties in reaching them due to the relentless Israeli shelling.
Meanwhile, he Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs says Israeli forces have arrested some 690 Palestinian children since October 7.
It said in a statement that Israeli soldiers have been arresting Palestinian children “systematically, as part of a punitive mass arrest campaign”, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.
An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 were taken captive.
