(The Muslim News): 22 Palestinians killed, 77 others injured by indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, resulting in total number of Palestinians killed since October 7 by Israeli forces 39,699 and injuring a further 91,722 in the enclave. The majority of the victims are women and children.
At least 15 civilians were killed and many others were injured on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike on al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military says it struck Hamas command centres embedded in the areas of two schools in the Gaza Strip. Gaza’s civil defence says al-Zahraa School and the Abdel Fattah Hamoud School east of Gaza City were targeted in the bombing.
Death toll in an Israeli bombing that targeted two schools housing displaced people in eastern Gaza City has risen to 15, according to Gaza’s civil defence. At least 30 people were injured, and a number of people are missing.
Medical sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that 56 people have been killed and dozens injured in Israeli bombing in Gaza since dawn. This figure is not included in the official figure of 22 Palestinians killed in the last 24 hours.
Israeli bombing in the vicinity of the power plant north of the Nuseirat refugee camp has killed three people and injured a number of others, the correspondent added.
Gaza’s civil defence said it had recovered three bodies following the Israeli bombing of the Zeitoun neighbourhood in southeastern Gaza City.
Israeli bombing targeted a house of the Abu Zaid family in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing eight people and injuring a number of others including serious cases, Gaza’s civil defence added.
At least 32 civilians were killed today when Israeli warplanes bombed two schools housing displaced families in eastern Gaza City, as well as several homes in Khan Younis and the central Gaza Strip, according to local and medical sources.
Both schools have been turned into shelters for dozens of families displaced as a result of the ongoing Israeli genocide.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that the casualties, including several critically injured individuals, were transported to the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City in the aftermath of the deadly massacre.
Simultaneously, rescue workers reported recovering eight bodies following an Israeli airstrike which targeted a house in the Bureij refugee camp, central Gaza, and six more from a home east of the town of Qarara in Khan Younis province.
Additionally, three more individuals were confirmed killed following an Israeli airstrike on a group of civilians in the Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
Five Palestinians were killed and two others injured on Thursday following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residential home in the northeastern part of Khan Younis, a city located in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Civil Defense reported said in a statement that the bodies of the five victims were recovered from the Al Qarara town in eastern Khan Younis, while search efforts continued for potential survivors beneath the rubble.
The airstrike caused significant damage to the targeted home, and rescue teams, alongside local residents, are still searching for any missing individuals, witnesses reported.
The attack occurred in the midst of a large-scale evacuation of several areas in eastern Khan Younis, following warnings from the Israeli military earlier in the day.
Military spokesman Avichay Adraee called on residents in the towns of Salqa, al-Qarara, Bani Suheila, Abasan, and Khuza’a, Sheikh Nasser, al-Satar, and al-Mahatta to evacuate immediately towards what he called a “humanitarian zone” west of Khan Younis.
Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing the area under intense artillery fire, adding to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Massive damage was reported in the area following the attack as rescuers continued to search the rubble in search of survivors.
Over 10 months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 were taken captive.
