Saudi Arabia: 5 Shia Muslims killed in Husayniyya in Saihat
RIYADH, (AA): The Daesh [IS] group claimed responsibility for Friday’s rampage attack that left five dead and nine injured in the Shia-majority province of al-Qatif in eastern Saudi Arabia. The Shia Muslims were commemmorating the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn, grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

A Daesh-affiliated Twitter account shared a statement claiming that their militant opened fire on pedestrians in Saihat city.

Security forces later killed the assailant, according to the Saudi Ministry of Interior and arrested two suspects linked with the incident.

In June and July, al-Qatif province witnessed two suicide attacks that left 25 people dead.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior held Daesh responsible for the attacks.
