Israeli forces killed 62, injured 300 in Gaza & killed 5, several injured in Lebanon

(AA, Al Jazeera, Wafa): At least 62 more Palestinians were killed and 300 others injured in Israeli indiscriminate attacks in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 42,500, the Health Ministry in the Palestinian enclave said on Friday.

A ministry statement added a total of 99,546 others have been injured in the ongoing assault.

“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Meanwhile in Lebanon, Israeli indiscrimate bombings killed 5 people and injured several people in the last 24 hours. Since Sept. 23, Israeli has killed at least 1,437 people, injuring over 4,123 others, and displacing more than 1.34 million people.

GAZA

The funeral of 10-year-old Abdul Ruhman, who died from injuries in an Israeli strike that ignited a fire in a tent camp for the displaced next to the Al-Aqsa Hospital, has been held in Khan Younis.

His brother, Shaban al-Dalou, was burned alive while still attached to an IV drip for an injury from a previous attack.

The Palestinian news agency says at least 30 were killed, including 20 children and women, and more than 50 others were wounded, when the Israeli army bombed the Jabalia refugee camp in north Gaza, according to Wafa News Agency.

At least 450 people have been killed in an Israeli siege of the northern Gaza Strip that has been going on for nearly two weeks.

Residents say they’ve been cut off from humanitarian aid and supplies of food and water.

Local sources reported, quoting Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip, that 30 civilians, including 20 children and women, were killed and over 50 others injured Israeli airstrikes bombed a number of houses near Nassar Junction in Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip.

Six civilians were killed and others were injured on Friday evening in the ongoing Israeli aggression on the northern Gaza Strip, which coincided with the interruption of communication and internet services in the north and several areas of Gaza City.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) medics reported that four civilians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli drone strike on a group of civilians in al-Nusra Street in the al-Nusra neighborhood northwest of Gaza City.

Two civilians were also killed and others were injured in an Israeli shelling that targeted a group of civilians in the vicinity of the Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia, north of the Strip.

Local sources reported that the Israeli army demolished a house belonging to the Washaah family in the Falluja area of the Jabalia camp, with displaced individuals inside. The fate of those trapped inside remains unknown at this time.

The Israeli drones also bombed the vicinity of Martyr Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya in the north of the Strip.

WAFA correspondent reported that communications and internet services were cut off in the northern Gaza Strip and various areas of Gaza City.

For the fourteenth day in a row, Israeli forces have besieged 200,000 citizens in northern Gaza, leaving them without food, water, or medicine as heavy bombardments continue.

WAFA correspondent reported that the fatalities occurred due to shelling in the Al-Fakhoura area of the camp, while 13 others were wounded when the Israeli forces targeted a residential building. The injured were transported to Al-Awda Hospital in the neighborhood of Tal Al-Zaatar.

At least two civilians were killed and others were injured when the Israeli forces bombed a house in the al-Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources reported that two Palestinians were killed and others were injured, and a number of people were missing under the rubble, as a result of the Israeli bombing of a house belonging to the Shana’a family in the Maghazi camp.

Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza reported that it received the bodies of five additional dead and more than 40 wounded as a result of Israeli shelling of homes in the camp.

WEST BANK

Illegal Israeli settlers once again attacked two neighborhoods in the occupied West Bank on Friday, forcing Palestinian olive farmers to flee to their safety and stealing personal belongings, according to witnesses.

Armed settlers attacked Palestinians harvesting olive trees in the village of Yasuf, eastern Salfit city, in the northern West Bank, forcing them to flee their lands.

Wael Abu Madi, the village council’s president, said the illegal settlers evicted farmers from their olive farms and prevented others from reaching their lands to pick olives from trees.

In a related development, witnesses in Salem village, near Nablus city, told Anadolu Agency that Israeli forces assaulted farmers picking olives, injuring several of them as they fired tear gas shells.

Witnesses also reported that the Israeli troops assaulted and detained a Palestinian youth during their incursion into the Jalazone refugee camp, located north of Ramallah in the central West Bank.

Meanwhile, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces stormed the Al-Khader town south of Bethlehem and clashed with Palestinians, firing stun grenades and tear gas shells.

In the Masafer Yatta area, the southern West Bank, illegal Israeli settlers stole a tent and furniture belonging to a Palestinian man and raided a school in the area, according to Wafa.

The US, South Korea, and Japan on Friday urged the international community to take action on North Korea’s human rights issues, shifting from monitoring abuses to promoting accountability.

Data from the Israeli army revealed on Friday that 53 soldiers were injured in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of wounded soldiers since the onset of the Gaza war to 4,948.

The Israeli army reported that 47 soldiers remain in serious condition, 191 are in moderate condition, and 40 have minor injuries.

1,139 people were killed in Hamas’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive.

LEBANON

At least five people were killed and several others injured on Friday in Israeli airstrikes in different areas of southern Lebanon.

Israel dramatically escalated its massive bombing campaign across Lebanon against what it claims are Hezbollah targets since Sept. 23, killing at least 1,437 people, injuring over 4,123 others, and displacing more than 1.34 million people.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted the town of Jwaya in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, killing three people and injuring several others.

Debris removal operations are still ongoing, it added.

Two more people were killed in the town of Zrariyeh in the Zahrani area of the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, after an Israeli airstrike on the entrance to Wadi Khalil, the news agency reported.

Several airstrikes hit the town throughout Friday, it said, without providing additional information.

Israeli warplanes also carried out additional airstrikes on Marwanieh in the Zahrani area, according to the agency, which did not provide details about the casualties or damages to infrastructure.

Israeli media reported the firing of at least 50 rockets fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel since early Friday.

Israeli Channel 12 said most of the rockets were fired towards the Galilee region, northern Israel, including the Miron and Metula settlements, and triggered the activation of sirens.

The news channel, however, said some of the rockets were intercepted by the Israeli army’s air defenses, while others landed in open areas.

No damage or casualties were reported from the rockets, Channel 12 added.

Heavy shelling and powerful airstrikes, as well as the number of violations over Lebanese airspace have increased recently, said the spokesperson for the UN peacekeepers in the country, as Israel continued its attack on Lebanon.

“In recent days, the amount of heavy shelling and powerful airstrikes, as well as the number of air violations over Lebanese airspace have grown,” Andrea Tenenti said.

Also touching on a “significant increase” in bombardment, particularly in southern Lebanon, where UNIFIL operates, he said that heavy shelling also continues daily in the capital city of Beirut and other parts of the country.

The Israeli army said Friday that it called up an additional reserve brigade to its northern border as it continues to battle Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.

“In accordance with the situational assessment, the IDF (army) is calling up an additional reserve brigade for operational missions in the northern arena,” a military statement said.

“This will enable the continuation of combat efforts against Hezbollah and the achievement of the goals of the war, including the safe return of the residents of northern Israel to their homes,” the statement added.
