London, (The Muslim News): Israeli forces killed at least nine Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Monday, medical sources said, bringing the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli violations of the ceasefire to 581 since the agreement came into force on October 10, 2025.
Medical officials said three Palestinians were killed when an Israeli strike hit a residential apartment on Al-Nasr Street, west of Gaza City, an area lying outside Israeli military deployment zones specified under the ceasefire. A 54-year-old man was shot dead near Abu Tammam School in the northern town of Beit Lahia, while a farmer was killed east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. Four other Palestinians were killed in separate incidents in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army said its forces had identified four gunmen allegedly emerging from an underground route in eastern Rafah and opened fire after coming under attack, killing all four. In recent weeks, the army has repeatedly reported similar killings in Rafah, frequently citing alleged tunnel activity. Separately, a Palestinian fisherman was injured by Israeli fire off the coast of Khan Younis, according to medical sources.
Monday’s killings came days after the death of Faraj Ibrahim Salem, 30, who was shot dead on Saturday in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighbourhood — an area from which Israeli troops had previously withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement. Witnesses also reported Israeli shelling east of Gaza City and Jabalia, demolitions east of Khan Younis, and naval fire towards the coasts of Rafah and Khan Younis. An Israeli helicopter was also seen firing over Rafah.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli violations since the ceasefire began have resulted in 581 Palestinians killed and 1,553 wounded. The ceasefire brought an end to Israel’s large-scale military offensive launched in October 2023, during which approximately 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 171,000 wounded, according to Palestinian health authorities. The United Nations estimates that around 90 per cent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, with reconstruction costs expected to exceed $70 billion.
Despite a January 2026 announcement by the US administration that a second phase of the ceasefire had begun — including further Israeli withdrawals and reconstruction measures — Israeli military operations in Gaza have continued.
Israeli settlers injure Palestinians in West Bank
The escalation in Gaza has coincided with rising violence in the occupied West Bank, where illegal Israeli settlers injured at least five Palestinians in a series of coordinated attacks on Saturday, according to Palestinian official sources. WAFA news agency reported that armed settlers assaulted three Palestinians while they were working on their land in Beit Imrin, north of Nablus, leaving them with bruises and other injuries. One of the victims was taken to hospital by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
Further attacks were reported in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus, while two Palestinians were injured after illegal Jewish settlers blocked a road between Ramoun village and Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah, before assaulting them. One of the victims sustained head injuries. Settlers also targeted a cave in the Wadi I’mer area near the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, part of what Palestinian officials described as an escalating pattern of violence.
The Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said settlers carried out at least 468 attacks against Palestinians and their property across the West Bank during January 2026 alone. In another incident, settlers stormed the Ein Samiya water well station east of Kafr Malek, vandalising the facility and assaulting staff from the Jerusalem Water Authority. The authority said repeated attacks had rendered the well inoperable, depriving more than 100,000 people across 19 communities of access to water.
Israeli military actions in the West Bank have also continued. On Saturday, the Israeli army said it shot a Palestinian detainee at a military base in the Jordan Valley after he allegedly assaulted a female soldier. The detainee had been arrested a day earlier at the Allenby Bridge crossing, the occupied West Bank’s only outlet to the outside world via Jordan. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the man, in his 50s, was shot in the knees and sustained moderate injuries.
Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Palestinian estimates indicate that at least 1,112 Palestinians have been killed, around 11,500 wounded and more than 21,000 detained across the West Bank. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Israeli forces killed 3 people in Lebanon incl 3-yer-old child
Tensions have also extended beyond the Palestinian territories. In southern Lebanon, three people — including a child — were killed on Monday when an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in the town of Yanooh in the Tyre district, Lebanese media reported, marking another violation of a ceasefire agreement in place since November 2024.
The child was 3-year-old Ali Hassan Jaber who was killed with his father Hassan.
Israeli military operations against Lebanon began in October 2023 and escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding approximately 17,000 others.
Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for international pressure on Israel to adhere to the ceasefire terms, while Hezbollah has reaffirmed its commitment to the truce and demanded Israel’s withdrawal from areas occupied during the latest conflict.
