GAZA
Four Palestinians were killed by Israeli army in the Gaza Strip on Sunday despite a ceasefire agreement in the enclave, a medical source said.
The source said the bodies of three people were transferred to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City after Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians east of the city.
Witnesses said Israeli forces stationed east of Gaza City opened fire on a group of Palestinians while returning to their areas east of Kuwait Roundabout near the city.
According to witnesses, the returning Palestinians were trying to check their areas after the army withdrew from the Netzarim Corridor, which separates northern Gaza from the south.
An elderly Palestinian woman was also killed by Israeli army fire in Al-Qarara, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the medical source said.
The Israeli army confirmed that its forces had opened fire on what it called “suspects” approaching their location near Nahal Oz east of Gaza City.
The new deaths came despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in place in Gaza since Jan. 19, halting Israel’s genocidal war that has killed nearly 48,200 people and left the enclave in ruins.
Palestinian medics and rescue teams recovered seven more bodies from the rubble in the Gaza Strip, pushing the overall death toll from Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023 to 48,189, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
A ministry statement said that the toll also included one Palestinian who was killed by Israeli fire.
According to the ministry, two injured people were also admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of the injured to 111,640 in the Israeli onslaught.
“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry said.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed a confirmed 48,189 people and wounded 111,640, according to the territory’s Health Ministry. Gaza’s Government Media Office has updated the death toll to at least 61,709 people, saying thousands who were missing under the rubble are now presumed dead. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks and more than 200 were taken captive.
WEST BANK
Two Palestinian women were killed by Israeli army fire in the northern West Bank on Sunday, the Health Ministry said.
A ministry statement said an 8-month pregnant woman was killed and her husband seriously injured during an Israeli military raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp east of Tulkarem city.
The ministry said the woman’s unborn child also lost his life in the attack.
According to witnesses, Israeli forces opened fire on the family as they were displaced from the camp by the Israeli assault.
The ministry said a 21-year-old woman was also shot dead by Israeli forces in the same camp on Sunday.
The Israeli army raided the camp early Sunday and forced several families out of their homes and converted them into military outposts.
The military claimed that the offensive targeted what it called “disruptive activities” in the camp.
Jenin
Israel has forcibly displaced more than 20,000 Palestinians from the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, a Palestinian official said on Sunday.
“The (Israeli) occupation has entirely destroyed the Jenin refugee camp and forcibly displaced over 20,000 residents, leaving behind their homes, documents, and personal belongings,” Jenin Deputy Governor Mansour al-Saadi told the Voice of Palestine radio.
The displaced residents are expected to seek shelter in other cities across the West Bank, as destruction caused by the Israeli assault makes their return impossible.
Israeli occupation forces have continued their assault on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp for the 20th consecutive day, leaving behind 25 fatalities and dozens of injuries since the beginning of the assault.
Meantime, Israeli drones continue to fly over Jenin refugee camp, repeatedly dropping bombs in the camp’s square and several surrounding streets.
Furthermore, Israeli forces have maintained their siege on Jenin Government Hospital, after bulldozing its entrance and the main street leading to it. For the 20th consecutive day, hospital departments are suffering from severe shortages of drinking water.
The municipality of Jenin, in cooperation with Civil Defense teams, has been attempting to deliver water to the hospital using small agricultural tractors, after Israeli forces prevented water tankers from entering.
Israeli forces have also sent large reinforcements, including military bulldozers, to Jenin city and the surrounding areas of the camp.
Nablus
Illegal Israeli settlers attacked a number of Palestinian civilians in Khirbet Al-Marajem, which is part of Duma lands, south of Nablus.
The head of the village council in Duma, Suleiman Dawabsheh, said that a group of settlers attacked Palestinians in Khirbet Al-Marajem, assaulted them, and wreaked havoc and destruction in sheep pens, and cut down and destroyed olive trees in the same area.
Tubas
Israeli occupation forces raided the city of Tubas early Sunday morning and raided the home of the family of Mohammed Daraghmeh, who was killed by Israeli forces last week, as well as the home of his brother, Kamal.
The forces took measurements of both homes in preparation for their demolition. During the raid, they caused significant destruction to the contents of the houses.
The occupation forces had previously surrounded Mohammed Daraghmeh’s home before the raid and fired shots toward it. Additionally, soldiers physically assaulted the father of the deceased, and emergency medical teams were called to transport him to the hospital.
Israeli bulldozers also destroyed the property of local residents during the raid.
Tulkarm
The Israeli occupation’s aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its refugee camp has entered its 14th day, with Israeli forces escalating their offensive to include Nour Shams refugee camp, located to the east of the city. This escalation has led to widespread destruction of infrastructure and forced residents to flee their homes.
Early on Sunday morning, Israeli forces deployed large military reinforcements, including heavy machinery and bulldozers, to Nour Shams camp. They conducted raids on dozens of homes surrounding the camp, accompanied by heavy gunfire and massive explosions, while reconnaissance planes flew at low altitudes overhead.
The occupation forces also imposed a strict siege on the camp, sealing off all access points and seizing residential buildings in the nearby neighborhoods of Dhannaba, Iktaba, and Al-Salam. In these areas, residents were evicted from their homes, their vehicles taken, and they were forced to walk out of the city under harsh, perilous conditions in the freezing cold. The Israeli forces converted these homes into military outposts and sniper positions.
LEBANON
Israeli warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes late Sunday in eastern and southern Lebanon along with low-altitude flights over the capital Beirut and its suburbs in new violations of a ceasefire agreement.
Israeli fighter jets launched four successive airstrikes targeting the area between the towns of Aazze and Bfaroueh in Nabatieh governorate of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
Israeli aircraft also bombed the Jabour Heights in Jabal al-Rihane, located in Jezzine District of south Lebanon, the agency reported.
In the Bekaa region of east Lebanon, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes targeting the heights of Harbata as well as the town of Qald al-Sabaa in the rugged outskirts of Hermel near the Syrian border, according to NNA.
The agency also reported low-altitude Israeli warplane activity over Beirut and its suburbs.
The Israeli military claimed in a statement that its fighter jets bombed an underground tunnel in the Bekaa region, alleging that it extended from Syrian territory into Lebanon and was used by Hezbollah to transfer weapons and military equipment.
“The warplanes also struck Hezbollah positions in Lebanese territory, claiming they contained weapons and missile launch platforms,” added the statement.
A fragile ceasefire has been in place since Nov. 27, ending months of mutual shelling between Israel and Hezbollah that escalated into a full-scale conflict last September.
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has committed over 870 violations, killing and injuring dozens in Lebanon, including women and children.
