London, (The Muslim News): The Israeli army bombarded the southern Lebanese town of Arnoun on Monday with phosphorus shells, according to Lebanon’s state news agency NNA.

NNA said the town, located in Nabatieh district, was targeted by “Israeli artillery shelling with internationally prohibited phosphorus shells.”In the same district, “Israeli warplanes targeted the town of Toul Monday afternoon, destroying a number of residential buildings,” the agency reported.

Additional airstrikes hit the town of Kfar Tebnit and the Wadi al-Nahr area near Zawtar al-Sharqiyah along the Litani River.

In Tyre district, Israeli warplanes struck the Burj al-Shamali area, while two further raids targeted the towns of Siddiqin and Bazouriyeh.

In Bint Jbeil district, Israeli aircraft launched strikes on the towns of Frun and Qlaweya.

Earlier Monday, NNA reported that one person was killed and eight others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Ma’raka in Tyre district.

On Sunday, Israel also bombed a cemetery in Kfardounine.

Graves, tombs, and the resting places of families were reduced to rubble.

On May 16, paramedics moved through smoke and shattered buildings, carrying stretchers as they tried to pull survivors from the ruins. By Monday, their own bodies were being carried through the streets of Harouf.

Paramedics Haj Jaafar Nasr and Fadl Bawwab, along with rescue worker Ali Al-Sayed, were killed in an Israeli strike while attempting to save others.

The men now buried beneath flowers and white shrouds were the same men who spent their days pulling civilians from collapsed buildings, rushing the wounded to hospitals, and answering calls most people would flee from.

Now, their families walk behind their coffins instead.

Colleagues who once stood beside them in rescue missions carried them to their graves with their own hands.

According to official figures, at least 110 paramedics and rescue workers have been killed and another 205 injured in Israeli attacks since March 2.

The attacks come amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was extended Friday for another 45 days until early July.

Since March 2, Israel’s large-scale offensive on Lebanon has killed 3,020 people, wounded 9,273 others, and displaced more than one million people, according to official figures.

Meanwhile, a proposal to hold a debate in the European Parliament on Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon was rejected following a plenary vote, the Left Group said Monday.

In a statement posted on X, the group said it had requested an urgent discussion titled: “Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon, the urgent need to uphold the ceasefire, and the EU’s responsibility to prevent further escalation.”

The proposal was rejected by 259 votes to 181.

“Once again, the European Parliament chooses complicity with Netanyahu’s regime by rejecting it,” the group wrote.

The bloc also renewed its call for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

Iran warns US not to attack – would be making “strategic mistake”

Meanwhile, Iran warned the United States and its allies on Monday against making what it described as another “strategic mistake,” as senior military officials said the country’s armed forces were prepared for any escalation.

Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, told Iranian state broadcaster IRIB that Iran’s military remained on high alert and was ready to respond to any renewed attack.

“They should know that the Islamic Republic of Iran and its armed forces are more prepared and stronger than before, with their fingers on the trigger,” he said.

He warned that any future attack would be met with a “swift, decisive, powerful, and large-scale” response.

US President Donald Trump said Monday that a planned American military strike on Iran scheduled for Tuesday had been postponed following direct appeals from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

“I have been asked by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to hold off on our planned military attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle weapons into the country from northern Iraq.According to IRNA, citing the IRGC Ground Forces, the operation took place in Baneh county in Iran’s Kurdistan province after intelligence monitoring.

The IRGC claimed that anti-Iran armed groups based in northern Iraq were attempting to transfer a large shipment of what it described as US-made weapons and ammunition into Iran.

The statement alleged the groups were acting “on behalf of the US and the Zionist regime,” though no evidence was provided.

Authorities said a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was seized, but did not disclose further details.

Israeli kills two Palestinians in Gaza

In Gaza, two Palestinians were killed and four others wounded by Israeli fire on Monday, according to medical sources, in what was described as another violation of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.

Medical officials said the body of a Palestinian man and two injured civilians arrived at Nasser Medical Complex west of Khan Younis after an Israeli strike near the Bani Suheila roundabout.

Witnesses said an Israeli drone targeted a group of civilians in the area.

A Palestinian child also died from wounds sustained in a drone strike on Bani Suheila on Thursday.
In northern Gaza, two young Palestinians were injured — one critically — in Israeli shelling of Jabalia refugee camp.

Despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli attacks across Gaza have continued.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 877 Palestinians have been killed and 2,602 wounded since the truce began.

The ceasefire followed two years of war that devastated Gaza and destroyed or damaged roughly 90 percent of civilian infrastructure.
