LONDON, (The Muslim News): Israeli attacks have continued across Gaza despite a ceasefire that has killed 1,505 Palestinians and wounded 5,332 since October 10, 2025, according to the territory’s Health Ministry, while a Palestinian prisoners’ organisation says Israel has detained more than 2,000 children since October 2023.

Four Palestinians were wounded, one critically, in an Israeli drone strike in Gaza City on Thursday, as further attacks, demolitions and gunfire were reported across the territory.

The latest developments came amid renewed Israeli military activity in southern Syria, an Ansar Allah attack on Yemen’s presidential palace that reportedly killed five people, and fresh security concerns around Saudi Arabia and the Strait of Hormuz.

Gaza attacks continue despite ceasefire

Four Palestinians were wounded, one critically, in an Israeli drone strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of northern Gaza City on October 15, medical sources told Anadolu.

Witnesses said the drone targeted a person passing in front of a café, severing one of the victim’s limbs.

Israeli forces also carried out demolitions and detonations in eastern Gaza City. Near Rafah, witnesses reported that Israeli warships fired more than 40 times along the coast over approximately two hours. No casualties were reported from the coastal shelling.

In Khan Younis, Israeli military vehicles increased their activity while troops fired towards tents sheltering displaced Palestinians, witnesses said.

Further attacks were reported on Thursday. Anadolu reported that a Palestinian man was killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting a gathering of civilians in the Al-Saftawi neighbourhood, north of Gaza City. Medical sources did not identify him or specify how many people were injured.

Three Palestinians were reportedly injured in another drone strike behind the Al-Abbas police station in western Gaza City. Other incidents included an attack on a residential building west of Yarmouk Street following an evacuation warning, strikes that destroyed two homes in the Maghazi refugee camp, and Israeli fire in several other areas.

Israeli forces also carried out demolitions in Beit Lahia and Rafah, while military vehicles fired near Al-Qarara and Maghazi, according to the report.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli ceasefire violations had killed 1,505 Palestinians and wounded 5,332 by Thursday.

Since October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 injured, according to the ministry. It estimates that approximately 90 per cent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

More than 2,000 Palestinian children detained

The Palestinian Prisoners Society said on October 14 that Israeli forces had detained more than 2,000 Palestinian children since October 2023, with at least 350 still imprisoned.

The organisation said six children were arrested during overnight raids in Sa’ir and Al-Shuyukh in the Hebron governorate of the occupied West Bank. It said the number detained from Gaza remained unclear because of missing persons and what it described as enforced disappearances.

The group accused Israeli authorities of intimidation, torture, starvation, isolation and denial of healthcare, and said detained children faced separation from their families and disruption to their education.

It highlighted the case of 17-year-old Walid Khaled Ahmad, who died in Megiddo Prison in March 2025 after approximately six months in detention. Medical findings reportedly indicated severe emaciation and signs of malnutrition and dehydration. Al Jazeera reported that an Israeli judge subsequently halted the investigation into his death, although a definitive cause had not been established.

The organisation also cited 15-year-old Mohammed Hamid, who it said contracted scabies at Ofer Prison before developing severe infections and undergoing heart surgeries and intensive care treatment. One of his legs was later amputated. The group said he continued receiving treatment after his release.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society called for international action to investigate alleged abuses and end torture, starvation and the denial of medical treatment.

The figures and allegations were reported by the organisation and have not been independently verified in their entirety.

Israeli forces advance in southern Syria

Meanwhile, around 10 Israeli military vehicles advanced near Abdeen Dam in Syria’s southern Daraa governorate on October 15, while Israeli warplanes flew over the area, Syrian state media reported the following day.

Alikhbariah TV said Israeli forces fired towards farmland and searched homes in eastern Abdeen. It also reported that troops set fire to a house and a fodder warehouse in rural Daraa.

The incursion followed an operation on October 14, when five Israeli military vehicles entered Wadi al-Raqqad, raided a home, detained several young men for about an hour, seized a motorcycle and fired towards empty land before withdrawing, according to Syria’s state news agency, SANA.

Syrian authorities condemned Israeli incursions as violations of the country’s sovereignty and called for Israeli forces to withdraw to the positions stipulated under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Ansar Allah attack kills five in Yemen

Yemen’s government said five people were killed and 16 wounded in an Ansar Allah missile and drone attack on the presidential palace complex in Aden on October 15.

The casualties at Al-Maashiq palace, the seat of the Saudi-backed government, included guards and civilian employees, according to Health Minister Qasim Buhaibeh. Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani and cabinet members were safe.

Ansar Allah spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group targeted what he described as the Saudi military operations headquarters in Aden. The group’s SABA news agency claimed the site housed Saudi officers and weapons depots; Reuters said it could not independently verify those claims.

Saudi Arabia intercepts drone as tanker fire reported near Hormuz

Saudi Arabia’s military coalition said on October 16 that it had intercepted and destroyed a drone heading towards the kingdom’s Eastern Province. It did not identify the launch source or report casualties or damage.

The announcement followed the coalition’s reported interception of a cruise missile over Madinah on October 15. Ansar Allah spokesperson Yahya Saree denied that the group had attacked Saudi territory that day.

Iran’s army separately reported on October 15 that an unidentified oil tanker had caught fire in a restricted maritime area east of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media said the vessel had allegedly disabled its tracking systems, but authorities did not identify the tanker or establish the cause of the fire. The report was separate from an October 11 incident in which a tanker was reportedly struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest incidents highlight the continuing risks to civilians and critical infrastructure across the region, as attacks persist in Gaza despite the ceasefire and fighting and maritime insecurity affect neighbouring countries.
