The al-Mawasi is a vast camp on sandy soil devoid of the most basic living conditions, where approximately 1.7 million persons were forcibly displaced due to intense bombardment and gunfire by the Israeli occupation. Most of the displaced arrived there during Israel’s ground invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Strip last May when Israel claimed it a “safe zone” while simultaneously committing numerous massacres targeting the tents that housed the displaced.

Earlier, one civilian was killed and another was injured in the Israeli targeting of a group of civilians near the headquarters of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in the Khirbat al-Adas area north of Rafah in the southern Strip.

The Israeli army also raided the El-Ain refugee camp in western Nablus, damaging belongings in several homes without arrests, according to the agency.

In the city of Qalqilya, Israeli forces arrested another resident, searched a home, destroyed its furniture, and plundered gold jewelry, Wafa added.

Separately, illegal settlers from the southern Hebron settlement of Otniel moved westward to the Negohot illegal settlement, passing through Palestinian villages and farmland, according to witnesses.

The settlers entered the village of Al-Alaqah, gathering around a local water well, alarming children in the area.

LEBANON

Twenty one civil defence rescue staff, including paramedics, were killed in two Israeli bombing on the outskirts of the city of Baalbek on Thursday bringing the total number of rescue staff killed to more than 200.

In Lebanon, at least 3,386 people have been killed and 14,417 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.

All those killed in the strike on the town of Douris near Baalbek were employees and volunteers of the emergency services agency. Remains were also recovered and will require DNA testing, the agency said in a statement.

A Lebanese medic who survived a deadly Israeli attack on a civil defence agency centre recounted the scene.

“I rushed to the centre after hearing about the strike. I was in shock and started to scream,” Saiid Othman told Al Jazeera.

“What is happening? We are people who help others, our job is humanitarian. I started to call out to Haidar, he was my friend for 45 years. I called out for the others, no one answered. They were all my brothers.”

“The Civil Defense Center in Baalbek was targeted while more than 20 civil defense personnel were inside,” Bachir Khodr, the governor of Baalbek-Hermel, wrote on X.

The European Union’s foreign policy chief has condemned the Israeli killing of the paramedics in Baalbek.

“Attacks on healthcare workers and facilities are a grave violation of international humanitarian law. The protection of medical personnel in conflict zones is non-negotiable,” Josep Borrell said.

The strike may have been a “reckless” accident or deliberate but it still violates fundamental human rights either way, he added.

The Israeli military targeted the site in Baalbek as about 20 civil defence workers gathered there. As we reported earlier, it also killed another five paramedics in the village of Arabsalim in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence expressed “deep regret over this direct attack on its members”. Staffers “will continue to respond to relief calls and continue with its humanitarian mission, no matter how great the challenges and sacrifices are”, it said.

The airstrike targeted the town of Douris late Thursday, causing the collapse of the civil defense center and the destruction of an adjacent building, according to the National News Agency.

Three people were killed and at least nine others were injured on Friday evening in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a residential area in the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, the Israeli drone strike hit the Al-Masaken Al-Sha’abiyyah neighborhood in Tyre, causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. The blast also left several people trapped under the rubble, prompting urgent search and rescue operations.

Emergency services, including ambulances and civil defense teams, alongside the Lebanese army, have been working at the scene to locate survivors and recover the deceased. The full extent of the damage and casualties is still being assessed, as rescue efforts continue.

Lebanese official news agency reported that an Israeli drone targeted the Al-Zira’a district, which contains popular housing.

The attack also caused significant damage to the targeted area, the agency added.

Rescue teams, supported by the military, continue to search for missing persons in the affected area.

The Israeli army carried out two airstrikes in a southern suburb of the capital Beirut on Friday, according to an Anadolu correspondent on the ground.

The strike on the Ghobeiry area follows Israeli urging residents in Beirut’s southern districts to evacuate under claims that Hezbollah operates facilities within these densely populated zones.

In a statement, Avichay Adraee, Israeli army spokesperson, said “to all residents of the southern suburb, particularly in the designated buildings in Ghobeiry and neighboring areas, you are near Hezbollah-related facilities.”

He said residents should evacuate immediately, staying at least 500 meters (1,640 feet) from the targeted zones.

On thursday, the Israeli army has issued five evacuation orders including several buildings across Beirut’s southern suburbs, namely areas in Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Hezbollah resistance group announced on Friday that it launched rocket and drone strikes targeting Israeli military bases, settlements, and troop gatherings in northern Israel and southern Lebanon.

Israel has been conducting an incursion into southern Lebanon since Oct. 1 2024.

In a series of statements, Hezbollah said it carried out 20 military operations on Friday against Israeli soldiers, bases, and settlements.

The group claimed its fighters struck the Israeli military’s Tirat Carmel base, south of Haifa, and the Shraga base, near Acre, using advanced rockets. It also reported targeting five Israeli troop gatherings near the settlements of Doviv and Yiron in northern Israel.

In addition, Hezbollah said it attacked 12 Israeli troop positions near the Lebanese towns of Maroun al-Ras, Markaba, Khiyam, and Talloussah.

The Lebanese armed group, Hizbullah [Hezbollah] says it has hit a group of Israeli soldiers who had invaded the southern Lebanese village of Maroun al-Ras with a dive bomber, “inflicting confirmed casualties among them”.

Near the same location, a different group of Israeli soldiers was targeted with rockets in Kaheel Heights on the eastern outskirts of Maroun al-Ras, the group said in a statement on Telegram.

Hezbollah also claimed to have bombed Israeli soldiers in northern Israel’s Sasa and Dishon settlements.

Three Israelis were injured on Friday after rockets launched from Lebanon landed near the city of Haifa in northern Israel.

According to Israeli Channel 12, the injuries were caused by shrapnel from rockets that struck close to the Kiryat Bialik settlement near Haifa, with all three sustaining minor injuries.

The channel reported that the army detected the launch of five rockets from Lebanon targeting Israeli northern settlements near the border.

Air raid sirens sounded in several northern settlements, including Meron, Dovev, and Sa’sa’ in Western Galilee following the rocket fire, Channel 12 reported. While some rockets landed in open areas, others were intercepted by Israel’s defense systems.

Earlier, the Israeli army reported that it detected the launch of approximately five rockets from Lebanon toward the Haifa Bay and Upper Galilee regions.

Following the activation of warning sirens in these areas, the Israeli army announced that some of the rockets had been intercepted, while others fell in open areas.

Separately, Hezbollah issued multiple statements on Friday claiming responsibility for strikes on the Misgav Am settlement and the Tirat Carmel base south of Haifa.

Israel launched an air campaign in Lebanon against what it claims are targets of the Hezbollah group in late September, in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare.

It confirmed the Israeli attack on the Al Mezzeh district but did not provide further details on the strike’s outcome.

On Thursday, SANA reported that 15 people were killed and 16 others injured, including women and children, in an Israeli air raid targeting residential buildings in the Al Mezzeh district and the Qudsiya area near Damascus.
