101 people killed, 32 injured by Israeli bombings in Lebanon & 71 killed, 169 injured in Gaza

(AA, Al Jazeera, Wafa, NNA): Israeli indiscriminate airstrikes killed at least 71 people and injured 169 others on Friday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said on Saturday.

A ministry statement added the new fatalities brought to 2,968 the number of people killed in Israeli attacks in the country since October 2023, while 13,319 others were injured.

However, as reported below, 101 people were killed and more than 32 injured on Saturday and so in the last 24 hours, 172 people killed, over 201 injured by Israeli indiscriminate bombings across Lebanon.

So people killed by Israeli forces since October 2023 is brought to 2,998 and over 13,189 injured in Lebanon.

Meanwhile in Gaza, Israeli forces killed 55 Palestinians, injured 192 bringing number of Palestinians killed since 7 October 2023 to 43,314 and injured some 102,019 others.

LEBANON

Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Israel expanded the conflict by invading southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.

At least one person was killed and 15 others were injured on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, the Health Ministry said.

The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s eastern Baalbek district has risen to 57, with dozens more injured, the Lebanese official news agency reported on Saturday.

More than 25 airstrikes targeted residential areas, including the Ras al-Ain neighborhood, causing extensive damage to homes, businesses, and tourist sites, the agency added.

In the village of Amahz, 12 members of the Amahz and Bazal families were killed, while six family members, including parents and four children, were killed in another strike between the towns of Harabta and Ras al-Haddath, it said.

More fatalities were reported in several villages, including eight in Younine, six in Bednayel, five in Saeeda, while a family of four were killed in the town of Al-Alaq.

Eleven people were injured on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, the Health Ministry said.

The Israeli strike targeted a residential apartment in Galerie Semaan neighborhood in southern Beirut, a ministry statement said.

At least two people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house near the Tebnine Governmental Hospital in the Nabatieh governorate, southern Lebanon, according to the official Lebanese news agency on Saturday.

The airstrike caused significant damage to the hospital, the agency said.

The Israeli army said Saturday that it detected the launch of 30 rockets fired from Lebanon into the Galilee region in northern Israel.

A military statement said most of the projectiles were intercepted, while some of the rockets fell in the area, without providing further details.

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said the Israeli electricity company was working to repair damage caused by the rockets in several areas in the Finger of Galilee and Western Galilee areas in northern Israel.

It said the rocket fire had damaged the high-voltage network and destroyed wires in the area.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed a rocket attack on an Israeli military intelligence base in Tel Aviv on Saturday.

In a statement, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted the Glilot military base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv with a barrage of rockets.

The Glilot military base is a key intelligence facility and home to the army’s Unit 8200, responsible for intelligence gathering within the military’s intelligence division.

The base also hosts a military intelligence school and the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad spy agency.

At least 19 Israelis were injured after a rocket launched from Lebanon hit a building in the Israeli town of Tira on Saturday, according to first responders.

The Israeli army reported that sirens sounded in the Sharon and Dan regions as three rockets fired from Lebanon entered Israeli airspace. While interception attempts were made, one of the rockets breached defenses and caused injuries on impact.

The army also said that 10 rockets had been launched from Lebanon toward the Haifa Bay and Galilee regions in northern Israel. Some were intercepted, while others fell in open areas.

Separately, the army reported that a drone launched from Lebanon struck a factory in the western Galilee region of northern Israel after Israeli helicopters and fighter jets were unable to intercept it for nearly 40 minutes.

Israeli Army Radio stated that three to four drones had crossed into northern Israel from Lebanon, with one reaching The skies over the Ramat David Airbase southeast of Haifa.

According to Israel Hayom newspaper, the drone that hit the factory in Akhziv caused significant structural damage, though no injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, an elite Israeli commando unit invaded approximately 200 kilometers (about 124 miles) into Lebanese territory, capturing a prominent official allegedly linked to the Hezbollah group’s naval forces, Israel’s Maariv newspaper reported Saturday. Lebanese government
denied that he was member of Hezbollah and so Lebanese security forces are investigating a maritime operation conducted by unidentified armed individuals who reportedly kidnapped an individual from the beach of Batroun in northern Lebanon.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported Saturday that the incident took place early Friday morning, citing residents who said an unknown military force conducted a beach-landing operation at Batroun.

The fully equipped group allegedly moved to a beachfront residence and abducted a Lebanese national before escaping by sea on speedboats.

No official information has been released regarding the identities of the kidnappers or the victim.

A video circulating on Lebanese media showed an armed group of over 25 allegedly taking part in the landing and subsequent kidnapping.

GAZA

At least 55 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 43,314, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Saturday.

A ministry statement added that some 102,019 others were injured in the ongoing assault.

“Israeli forces killed 55 people and injured 192 others in seven massacres of families in the last 24 hours,” the ministry said.

“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

At least 25 Palestinians were killed and several others injured in Israeli attacks targeting northern and central Gaza Strip on early Saturday.

Five Palestinians were killed, including a teenager, and several others were injured this evening in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

WAFA correspondent reported that an Israeli drone targeted a group of individuals at the entrance of the camp, resulting in five civilians killed and others injured. The injured were rushed to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for treatment

A medical source at the Al-Shifa Hospital told Anadolu Agency that the hospital received the bodies of 10 Palestinians and several injured individuals after Israeli forces targeted homes in Nuseirat Camp.

At least 12 Palestinians were killed and several others injured due to Israeli shelling that struck the Tal al-Dhahab area in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, according to medical sources.

Three Palestinians were killed and several others were injured when Israeli forces shelled the Saftawi neighborhood in northern Gaza City, medical sources told Anadolu.

At least eight Palestinians were killed and several others injured early Saturday in Israeli attacks targeting northern and central Gaza Strip.

Separately, the Palestinian official news agency Wafa reported that Israeli airstrikes also hit a residential building in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, killing five people and injuring several others.

Six people were killed on Saturday evening in an Israeli drone strike in the central Gaza Strip, a medical source said.

A child was among the victims in the attack that targeted a gathering of civilians near the entrance of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, the source added.

Israel has intensified bombardment in central Gaza in recent days, particularly the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing dozens and injuring hundreds.

Two Palestinians were killed and several others injured in two Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to witnesses.

An Israeli drone opened fire on a group of civilians in the northern city of Jabalia, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others, witnesses said.

Another Palestinian was killed and several people were injured in an Israeli shelling that targeted a group of Palestinians near a clinic in Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, they added.

Three Palestinian children were injured on Saturday in an Israeli drone strike on a medical clinic during a polio vaccination campaign in Gaza City, witnesses said.

Witnesses said a quadcopter drone dropped a bomb on the Sheikh Radwan Clinic in northern Gaza City as children gathered to receive a second dose of polio vaccine.

The second phase of the polio vaccination campaign started Saturday morning in Gaza City, excluding the northern Gaza Strip, where the Israeli army has launched a deadly onslaught since last month.

The second round of the polio vaccination campaign first began in central Gaza on Oct. 14 and then moved to southern Gaza.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, reported on Saturday that they had killed and injured Israeli soldiers, targeting their military vehicles in northern Gaza.

In a statement, Al-Qassam reported hitting an Israeli D9 bulldozer with a Yassin 105 shell and targeting a group of Israeli soldiers with an anti-personnel explosive near Al-Fakhoura School, west of Jabalia camp.

The brigades also said they detonated a pre-rigged house targeting an Israeli foot patrol, resulting in further casualties near the same area.

In a subsequent update, Al-Qassam claimed responsibility for targeting two additional Israeli D9 bulldozers near Al-Qimma Company in Jabalia.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on the Al-Qassam.

Israeli army says two soldiers killed in northern Gaza, taking the total death toll to 780 since October 2023.

Thousands of people on Saturday held a rally in the British capital to protest Israeli genocide and demand a total halt of arms shipment to Israel.

A large crowd first staged a die-in protest outside Downing Street, where the Prime Minister’s Office is located, to commemorate more than 42,000 Palestinians who have been killed by Israel since October last year, reported Anadolu.

Later, the protesters started the march from Whitehall to the US Embassy by shouting pro-Palestinian slogans, including “Free Palestine.”

Carrying Palestinian and Lebanese flags, people were also holding various signs to criticize the complicity of the British government in ongoing Israeli attacks.

Reiterating their immediate cease-fire calls, the group also demanded immediate arms embargo on Israel.

“On the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration we are marching from Whitehall to the US Embassy, Israel’s main backer today, to demand an end to Britain’s historic and ongoing complicity in Israel’s genocide,” the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the leading organizer of the pro-Palestinian marches in the UK, wrote on X.
